USThe staff at Orchid Lake View Homestay were very welcoming and gave us good treatment. The rooms are clean and beautifully done, with good views of the lake. There are several places to gather which are covered, which helps for rain or shine. There are fans on the veranda / porch and the bedrooms also have air conditioning. We arrived on Onam, but pre-ordered a Sadhya meal which was extra and served by the staff - delicious. Breakfast, tea, coffee and bottled water were also extra. We enjoyed watching people fishing from boats. It would be helpful to have prices posted so we could make good decisions about what to order. Another improvement would be to have kettles and tea, coffee, milk and sugar available so we could make our own beverages. It is a kilometre from a little village with amenities such as a pharmacy and a little shop.
communication with Booking.com was confusing. We thought we prepaid and then on departure learned that we needed to pay cash. Bring receipts with you so avoid confusion.
NLThis homestay is very relaxed. Nice clean, comfortable rooms and an amazing backyard. The location is a bit further from Alleppey, but in return you get a lot of tranquility, and the host is most willing to arrange transportation anywhere. The host is really an amazing guy. He's always ready to arrange whatever you wish for and help out anywhere he can. He organized a kayaking and boattour for us, including transport. The host also likes to invite you for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and makes the most delicious food, honestly or restaurant quality. Staying here is a wonderful experience.
INShafi is an incredible host. He helped me with everything - be it any transfer, special food, kayak trip or just some information about the local culture. I never had to inquire, he was always around if something was needed. The location of the homestay is a bit remote, but that’s also the charme of it. I enjoyed lazing in the hammock or on the veranda right by the beautiful lake. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable. Alleppey seems to have many good accommodations, but I honestly can’t come up with a single reason why you shouldn’t book here!
INIncredible experience. If I had to choose one stay out of my entire trip in Kerela, it would be this place. Right from the staggering early sunrise to the delicious home-cooked meals. This place certainly delivered in every aspect. What's more, is that I never felt like I was away from home, somewhat at a far relative home. Would recommend to everyone looking for that calmness and still on their holiday.
The place is a little hard to reach but I'm not complaining.
