We had a great stay at Lake Wind and most enjoyed the lovely breakfast service on the balcony which is worth the stay all on its own- seeing the wildlife and sounds of the lake

Very nice and helpful owner family, big and clean rooms, perfectly located for visits in the "cultural triangle", great food, lake view, very reasonable prices. Highly recommended!

Next to the fact that this place is just incredible and you should not doubt any second to stay here because of the beautiful surroundings. But most importantly Gamini and his family are making your stay so incredibly worth it. They are the kindest people in Sri Lanka we have met and took such good care of us. While I was being very ill the family went out all the way to take care of me or to drive me to the hospital.. It was just too kind. Another big thank you here for all their help. I can't describe how grateful we are and how happy we are that we stayed at their place.

We spent two unforgettable days at this place and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for relaxation and incredible experiences. The treehouse offered breathtaking views for the nature and animals at the lake. The hosts took care of every detail, providing guests with high- quality service. Additionally, the breakfasts were delicious, made with local ingredients and full of flavors and aromas. Definitely a place worth visiting!

**Lake Wind Homestay, Habarana – A Perfect Getaway** I recently had the pleasure of staying at Lake Wind Homestay in Habarana, and I can confidently say it was one of the best experiences I’ve had! From the moment I arrived, the serene environment surrounded by nature captivated me. The wood house, nestled among lotus and lilies, felt like a hidden gem near the lake—a perfect spot for anyone seeking peace and tranquility. **Facilities: 10/10** The amenities at Lake Wind Homestay are top-notch. Whether it was the spacious, cozy rooms or the beautifully crafted sitting area overlooking the water, everything was designed with comfort in mind. Plus, it’s conveniently located just 5 minutes away from the bus stop, and tuk-tuk services are available for easy pick-up and drop-off. **Food: 10/10** The food was incredible, bursting with authentic local flavors and made with love. We were even fortunate enough to learn authentic Sri Lankan cooking, which was an unforgettable experience! It gave us a deeper appreciation of the local culture and cuisine. **Hygiene: 10/10** Cleanliness was clearly a priority here. From the rooms to the common areas, everything was spotless, making me feel at ease throughout my stay. What made the stay extra special were the hosts—a lovely couple who were warm and welcoming, making sure our stay was peaceful and enjoyable. Their hospitality truly made us feel at home. If you’re looking for a peaceful retreat with a touch of luxury and the charm of nature, Lake Wind Homestay is the perfect spot. I can’t wait to visit again and immerse myself in its serenity!

Such a wonderful spot to stay in. It’s only 1 year old and is spotlessly clean, with thoughtful touches like an international plug adapter in the room. Beautiful views across fields and a lake, so peaceful and a great place to relax. But the best part is the owners! They were so warm, welcoming and friendly. I was greeted with a cold drink on arrival, I ate breakfast lunch and dinner there which was all just incredible! They tried so hard to make my stay special and I really appreciated it. The owner also took me out in his tuk tuk to local sights and went out of his way to show me interesting things. Highly recommend, they work very hard to make your stay enjoyable. I was honoured to be their first guest from NZ, I hope to visit again one day.

We stayed 2 nights in August at Lake Wind and we enjoyed every moment we were there: - Large, new, clean, comfortable room, large bathroom and good working A/C and Wi-Fi. There is, also, a nice garden outside and free filtered water available. - The free breakfast offered was one of the best we had during our 3-week visit in Sri Lanka: Local, tasty and plentiful, served at a little tree house overlooking the lake. - There is a choice of local dishes available for dinner, all freshly prepared by the lovely owner's wife, tasty and at very reasonable prices. - The location is very nice, by the lake. Although at a distance from the center of town, you don't have to worry about it because the owner has his own tuk-tuk (larger than the usual ones) and he can take you anywhere you wish, being that a local sight nearby or a more distant cultural location (like Sigiriya or Polonannaruwa, etc.). - The owner can, also, arrange for you a jeep safari to any of the National Parks in the area and you can be sure that his suggestion will be the best you could have. - To top them all, the price of the room was the best value for money we had in Sri Lanka.

Nothing. Everything was perfect.

This new family homestay is excellent value. It is convenient for Sigiriya, Minneriya and Ritigala. The rooms are comfortable and you have access to a fridge and drinking water. The little tree house is a peaceful spot for breakfast and dinner looking over the lake - and there is indeed cooling wind that blows over the lake. The hosts are very welcoming and happy to help organise transport or a safari tour.

The location is a little out of town so it may be more convenient if you have your own transport. I used the scooter hire place nearby.
