Lake Wind

Modern, super clean, quiet with most comfortable beds and big clean bathroom. Lots of space for all my luggage. The surrounding garden and lake is so beautiful. The driveway to the property is all sealed and easy for the low hybrid vehicle our driver had. The hosts are the sweetest couple who provide wonderful food and fresh water and there is a big fridge and kettle in the kitchen/ dining area but there is also the charming little hut on stilts for the memorable sunsets and fabulous breakfasts.

The place overlooks in front of the room , which is very spacious and where there is furnitures to put your suitcases . In the morning we have breakfast on a hut on stilts the of the lotus flowers and water lilies , the varius varieties off birds , everything is magnificient . The breakfasts are very good and very generous. The meals are excellent. Our hosts truly adorable, kind . We highly recommend it . 4 nights spent . We regret leaving this place.

- communication with host a bit cumbersome, difficult to understand what he really meant - mosquito net a bit difficult to handle in order to keep mozzys out - unnecessary step in the room making minor accidents likely - toilet flush needed repair

Very friendly and helpful owners! The accommodation is very clean and spacious with a peaceful terrace. The view on the nearby wetlands is absolutely stunning and can be fully enjoyed from a little tree house (where breakfast/dinner can be served). The owner is willing to drive you to every nearby major attraction (Sigiriya, Polonnaruwa, jeep safari,…etc) and able to make bookings at affordable prices (e.g. a jeep safari is significantly cheaper if you let him do the booking) and has lots of interesting, lesser known suggestions to visit. In addition, his wife makes delicious local breakfast, dinner and drinks at very cheap prices. Heavily recommended!

What a fantastic place. Beatiful and spacious rooms in a gorgeous setting. Food was amazing. The host was able to give advice on trips. Only stayed 2 nights but was so relaxing.

We loved our stay in the property. The host family was very thoughtful of anything that we needed to enjoy our stay. The location is superb, with the view over the lake and good places to walk around local area. The room is spacious, clean and very comfortable. Drinking water in the dinning area. The host has a tuk tuk and he picked us up and dropped to the train station free of charge, as well as drove us to a morning hike to Pidurangala Rock and arranged jeep safari trip. The home food was delicious.

Simply the best homestay in Habarana! The hosts are so kind to us and welcoming, home-cooked food were affordable and delicious, breakfast (included in price) was amazing and you get to enjoy it over the tree tops overlooking the lake. Room was clean and spotless, thank you Lake Wind! 😊

The location of the accommodation is in a quiet nature on the shore of the lake in a beautiful environment. The lady of the house cooks perfectly. The owner takes care of his guests. Maximum satisfaction with stay. Whoever is looking for peace and well-being, I heartily recommend it.

Staying at Lake Wind was an unforgettable experience. The mornings, when you leave the room and see the water lilies opening on the lake and birds flying around, are just breathtaking. You could spend the whole day just sitting on the porch, birdwatching, and observing squirrels running around the palm trees. The owners of the place are amazing people - very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and cozy while being minimalistic. The AC worked exceptionally well. Also, it's important to mention that the owner can help you organize a safari trip. We opted for breakfast, and it was amazing - big, with plenty of choices, always focusing on local cuisine, with fresh fruit and high-quality tea. Additionally, the host offers the option to order dinner. Their Kottu Roti is a masterpiece—the best we had during our trip around Sri Lanka. The portions are large, while the price is very affordable. The place is not located directly on the main road, which makes it peaceful and quiet. However, the bus stops are close enough that the location is well-connected, making it easy to reach Sigiriya or Pidurangala Rock. I miss that place, and I hope I'll be able to visit it again in the future.

It was very easy to find and get to. Place was very peaceful and quiet, we saw beautiful birds around the lake and a new type of squirrel we hadn't seen before. It was really clean, warm water and helpful staff. The owners gave us suggestions to new places to go, which were amazing and saved us money.

Some of the food was a bit too salty for us, but other than this - delicious!
