GlenMyu Estate

One of the very best places I’ve ever stayed. I wish I’d been able to stay a week instead of just one night. The food was phenomenal, the views from the room, everything was peaceful and just the right amount of private and secluded. I’d planned to go for a hike in Haputale in the morning, but once I checked in, I really couldn’t find any good enough reason to leave the estate.

We had a lovely time at GlenMyu Estate. Ru and Michael are great hosts and made the stay feel very personalised. The food was incredible and the surroundings were idyllic. After reading the reviews we had high expectations and these were surpassed! Thanks for an amazing stay ☺️

First the location, don't expect to be close to the city of Haputale but you can join it by tuk-tuk in 20min, that not a problem as long you searching a place for rest and make a break in your trip, it's like a green oasis, you are surrounded by hundred kind of tree and plants, monkeys, birds... The pool is coming from a natural spring and is a great way to relax after a hiking day. View from the saloon and the room is breathtaking, you feel privileged. Don't miss the breakfast and the diner, almost all come from the garden or the surrounding area. Ruwanthi is a formidable cooker and she will enjoy to provide you explanation of her garden and how she cook (with her mother sometimes haha) Also Michael is a great host and will have the pleasure to discuss with you of anything or to give you an answer at any question. Thank you you to all the people who are working with them and for them they all do a good job, very discreet and professional. Last word for the dogs, there is a number of nine, it you are a animals lover it's your place, if not you are warned :)

Nothing, perfect stay.

Away from the tourist crowds, as only 3 rented rooms. Beautiful and spectacular location and setting. Best food we have had in Sri Lanka. Loved the dogs …. but not everyone would. Very quiet for sleeping.

Need a mirror in the bedroom. Also would like a desk as I am one of those saddos who travels with his laptop. We had eyeshades with us - otherwise the rooms are not dark.

Michael and Ruwanthi gave us such a warm welcome to their beautiful place. The view, the garden, the food, the house, all were exceptional and we were very sad to leave. This is not an impersonal hotel but a real retreat and everything has been created with so much love and generosity.

I can’t even begin to describe how special Glen Myu Estate is. The property offers breathtaking views of its private valley, where multiple streams converge into a hidden waterfall—a perfect spot for a refreshing dip. The house itself is beautifully designed, with expansive windows that frame stunning vistas of rolling hills, massive boulders, and ancient tree roots, making you feel completely immersed in nature. Michael and Ruwanthi were exceptional hosts. Ruwanthi’s passion for her gardens shines through in every detail, and her cooking—largely sourced from their own garden—was some of the best we had in Sri Lanka. The landscaping and pool, nestled within the wild jungle, are simply gorgeous, evoking a true Garden of Eden vibe. The bedrooms and bathrooms are stylish and supremely comfortable, offering a luxurious experience that feels effortless and unpretentious. We loved hiking, exploring, and swimming in the local waterfalls—it was an unforgettable adventure. The photos truly don’t do this place justice. A special mention goes to Ruwanthi’s incredible baking skills. On our final morning, she went above and beyond by preparing a delicious packed breakfast for our long train ride to Kandy—a gesture we’ll never forget. We can’t wait to return. Hosts, location, food and beautiful design.

This is a gem of a place. Nestled in the Central Hills of Sri Lanka, the property is an oasis of peace and beauty. A place to simply stay put or to explore its surroundings. Ru and Michael are wonderful hosts giving time and attention to details to make the stay memorable. Ru prepares delicious meals with local sources produce from their garden with a modern flair.
