GlenMyu Estate

This is really the most beautiful location we have ever stayed in, with truly sensational views. We had a magical 4 day stay and would have very much liked to have stayed longer. The breakfasts were outstanding with freshly baked bread and a wide variety of Sri Lankan dishes with ingredients mostly grown in the garden. Diners were also spectacular. In addition, Michael and Ruwanthi”s warmth, hospitality and advice ensured this was the best part of our 3 week holiday travelling around Sri Lanka.

What an amazing property, the food was delicious, the view was spectacular, the rooms were lovely and the pool was fantastic. We had such an amazing stay at GlenMyu thanks to the hosts Ru and Michael. The gardens were beautiful with plenty of places to explore and relax. We very much look forward to staying again.

We had the pleasure of staying at the GlenMyu and the experience was nothing short of extraordinary. The view over the landscape from my room was simply astonishing, offering a breathtaking panorama that made every moment special. The homemade food served was a delightful surprise - and with homemade I mean also ingrediance/fruits from the own garden. The culinary creations were not only delicious but also reflected a genuine passion for providing guests with a memorable experience. The owners and the team were incredibly welcoming and warmhearted, creating an atmosphere that felt like a home away from home. Their personal touch added a unique charm to the stay, making it more than just a typical hotel visit. It was superbly clean, creating a hygienic and comfortable environment. The location of the hotel was ideal for those seeking adventure and exploration. With a tea factory visit, mesmerizing waterfalls, and the famous train ride from Haputale to Ella or Nanuoya nearby, there was always something exciting to do in the area. Overall, our stay was a delightful experience, offering a perfect blend of natural beauty, culinary excellence, and warm hospitality. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a memorable and rejuvenating getaway.

The GlenMyu Villa is nestled on a mountain in Haputale, amid the varied plants and wildlife unique to Sri Lanka. On our arrival, Micheal and Ruwanthi warmly greeted us. They gave us a tour, and we were instantly captivated by the breathtaking views of nature. The villa's design is modern, radiating peace in every room. The large windows makes you feel like you’re living in the middle of the jungle, it calms and makes you connect with the nature that surrounds. During our stay, we got a tour in the garden, where Ruwanthi introduced us to the ingredients for many of their dishes, from fresh fruits and vegetables to all kinds of different herbs and plants. It amazes us that you can grow so much diverse plants and foods. To be completely honest with you, I can’t think of anything that they haven’t considered to make their place so special. The villa has everything you need to fully relax and enjoy your stay. You can have a peaceful walk in the woods or the garden, get a swim in the pool, and enjoy the view from every single room. The environment is animal friendly, they have all kinds of adorable animals like dogs, chickens, ducks, and a small cow. The dogs were incredibly gentle with our toddler, who usually feels a bit uneasy around them. Lipton, in particular, was especially a sweet dog. — One special topic for the food. We've dined globally, but the dishes crafted by Ruwanthi, her mom, and the staff were unparalleled. The food was just impeccable and the quality was top-notch! All the dishes are widely diverse and so tasteful. My husband is normally very critical if it’s about food but he loved every single dish. Our vegetarian friend was equally amazed, claiming it was the best she'd ever had. Each dish was truly the zenith of its kind. We hope to buy Ruwanthi’s cookbook in the future, hoping to recreate some of this magic! Micheal, Ruwanthi, the family and the staff took really good care of us.

The homemade food with the produce from their estate was exquisite. And our hosts were so kind and welcoming. Their estate is full of gems, from spices and fruit trees to a hidden waterfall. We had one of the most beautiful experiences one can have in Sri Lanka.

We had an incredible time and enjoyed every second of it! From the house itself, to the pool, the food and the dogs and of course the hosts - everything has just been great. Leaving this place after just two nights felt wrong and we fell into a post GlenMyu depression.
