GlenMyu Estate

This is one of the best stays we've ever had in our life. We travel alot and we've been in many 5 stars hotel, but this property is unique and it offers more than just a luxury stay, it offers a unique and very personalised experience. We have saw the most breathtaking views, swam in the most amazing pool in the heart of a green jungle and we ate the best food cooked by Ru. The food prepared by this lady is better than many food we have tasted in micheline star restaurants around the world. Both Micheal and Ru, will welcome you with so much love and kindness and the chats with them will blow you away. They are very passionate and do what they do with a lot of love. The room was very comfortable and the views from that balcony is something to die for. Finally, the dogs were the cherry on the cake for our lovely stay. This place oozes with natural beauty that is beyond magical and with human kindness that will make you attached and wanna come back again.

Everything! The views from the bedroom, being surrounded by nature, the natural spring water swimming pool, the peace & quiet, the hosts, the delicious food, being shown around the gardens, picking our vegetables from the garden for lunch etc. Michael & Ruwanthi’s welcome and warmth are reflected in the home & grounds they have beautifully created and maintained. The setting is idyllic, the house and grounds luxurious in a lovely natural & understated way. Michael & Ruwanthi are wonderful hosts- attentive, friendly & take the time to chat to you if you want. We had very interesting conversations about the garden, food and Sri Lanka.

I booked my stay only a couple of days before, and totally lucked out. The hotel is glorious with panoramic views (the view from the bath was to die for!). A true sanctuary in the mountains, but also with great access to explore the surrounding area if you like. Mike and Ru were brilliant hosts, truly went above and beyond with special effort to connect with all of their guests. Some of the best food I've had the pleasure of eating ever (special shout to Ru's coconut cake!).

This is the best place we have ever stayed! The ambience and Views were stunning. You couldn’t ask for a more beautiful, unique and peaceful setting. The hosts were delightful and the food was exceptional! Everyone must experience what we have experienced!

Really an amazing and wonderful place! Good for the soul.

The views, the pool, the decor, the hosts, the food. It was all fabulous and 100% worth the long drive up into the mountains. The whole place is breathtaking. They even have their own waterfall in the grounds which the hosts took us too. My children and I loved the 10 dogs who were just so sweet. The food was something else. I can’t rate this place highly enough. I felt so at home here we’re already planning out next trip!

Where do I begin… This is probably the most beautiful place I have been. The house itself, the garden and waterfalls, the animals, all the homegrown fruits, herbs and veggies in the garden and the view from inside the house. I would get up early just to sit on the big terrace and emerge in the beautiful surroundings of this estate. Everything is thought out perfectly. From the moment we stepped through the front door we were just in awe. I felt at peace and so grateful to be able to stay here. And then the food. OH THE FOOD. Some of the best food we ever had. Made with love by Ru in her amazing kitchen. From breakfast (homemade bread, porridge, hoppers etc), to lunch and dinner. Almost everything is homegrown! Ask for a tour in her garden. Ask questions about how everything is made! We are so out of touch in the West… I learned so many things and will cherish this forever (thanks Ru❤️). Haputale is just amazing. Don’t go to Ella but stay here and do a day trip to see the highlights instead. Try to stay more than 2 nights to fully experience what Glenmyu has to offer. I can not wait to come back with my family and send some friends over so they can also have the same wonderful experience. Thank you so much guys from the bottom of my heart. Our stay at Glenmyu gave me everything I didn’t even knew I needed at the time.
