Everything! It was the most beautiful, elegant, welcoming place we stayed in all of Sri Lanka! The home is a true bed & breakfast. The food was amazing and host couple was absolutely lovely. We found this place by chance while looking for lodging on a stopover near Ella. It was the best surprise. We could have stayed here for days. Some of the best food I’ve ever eaten in my life! It was a highlight of the trip. Thank you for having us!

Everything. The location, the room, the food and above all the kindness of our owners. we had an health issue and they took so week charge of us. the best stay in Sri Lanka.

No question, the best place I have ever stayed. An absolutely beautiful spot with so much heart that, like the other reviews suggest, is like coming home. The kindness and hospitality from the owners is what makes this place so special but I'll start with the facts: - View: the views directly from the hotel looking down into the valley are astounding, no need to hike for hours to get to them and they easily rivalled the views from the Kandy to Ella train. - Hotel: is impressively designed, both minimalistic and homely, it frames the views and is nestled into the mountain side hidden from above. There are so many thoughtful details like a beautiful planter in the dining area and the expansive glass windows, it could easily be featured on grand designs. - Location: 20 mins or so from haputale train station and close enough do to day trips to waterfalls/tea plantations etc. To be honest though I would have been happy hanging out at the hotel itself for a week if I'd had the chance. - Grounds: (which I don't think you can fully appreciate from photos) are beautifully crafted from the land and are nurtured to provide food for cooking. Definitely get a tour and don't miss the natural swimming pool. - Animals: the lovely dogs!the calf, the chicks and the ducks, the wild monkeys, the birds, the fish...the lands create a safe haven for both rescue animals and for the wildlife. You could spend hours observing nature, who needs a safari. - Food: ....THE FOOD!! Ruwanthi and her mother's cooking is beyond delicious, the best food I've ever had? I think so yes! you could feel the enjoyment from them in delighting you with something new, just say yes to everything they suggest. Getting a chance to observe the cooking and helping to make a dish were all part of bringing you into the experience. - Hospitality: Sri Lankan hospitality for us was superb our whole holiday but this was another level.

WE LOVED EVERYTHING!!! GlenMyu Estate in Nikapotha is truly a home from home in the Sri Lankan forest. The house is an architectural gem taking full advantage of the panoramic view, set in beautiful gardens. On top of this is the warm hospitality of Michael and Ru, for whom nothing is too much trouble. To cap it all, Ru is a superb cook, so staying here is like stepping into simultaneous programmes on dream houses and masterchef. Delightfully relaxing and fulfilling for all the senses. Out of all our four and five star hotel experiences in Sri Lanka this one was the best!

Only that we had to leave. We wish to have stayed longer!

Everything Ruwanthi makes is delicious! Freshly baked bread; vegetables, fruits, herbs from the garden; Sri Lankan curries and Western dishes – everything is exceptionally good! She will also gladly give you a cooking lesson and you better take this unique opportunity!
