Family makes you feel welcome and is very helpful. House is really interesting and has a nice inner courtyard to seat and relax.

Room I had is rather basic but comfortable and given the price well worth it. La Candelaria in Medellin is a challenging borough in some ways. I felt safe during the day but didn't really venture much out at night.

The house is located in the local part of the city that might seem a bit sketchy to a European traveler, but I never felt unsafe even though I was walking around on my own (solo female traveler) after 10pm in and before 6am. I actually loved the local vibe of the neighbourhood, especially on Saturday night. About 10min walk to the metro station and the bus to/from the airport. Lots of food available practically on every corner (local joints, bakeries, fruit vendors...) My room was very clean, nicely decorated and there was hot water in the shower. The apartment is very interesting. There was also a kitchen, but I wasn't using it, so I can't comment on that. I much prefer homestays to regular hotels, so much more authenticity. Also loved the cats :)

My room had no window. Also, as mentioned above, you are living with a local family and other travelers, walls are very thin, so it can get a bit noisy for a light sleeper. Bring earplugs and you'll be fine.
