Tehan Homestay

The quietness, privacy, sea / palm tree views, atmosphere. It was 5 min walk yo beach, and the perfect little retreat for a solo female! Tehan and his family were amazing, always smiling, humble, always there if I need something. Brought me my tea every morning as I woke up on the patio and watched the family of monkeys monkeying around! I had the family room and It was quite majestic! I extended my stay from 4 to 9 nights because it was so hard to leave! He helped me with tuktuk rides, and rented me a scooter from their home. The rocks across the streets are amazing to sit and enjoy - no people and just so so beautiful! It has mosquito net and a fan so sleeping was comfortable! Try brunch at Belika next door for a treat and for a dip in the pool! Its the perfect place to stay! This is a homestay and not a fancy apartment, but it was the most perfect. Felt like I was in real Sri Lanka, opposed to other more western accommodation, which I like. I cant recommend it enough!

Nothing! *Just a note - a kitchen to cook was not available but it there was plenty of food options a short walk away (try the veggies Samosas at the orange food truck at the far end of the beach and snag a beach lounger!)

The host was nice, a cool and young local surfer.

Unfortunately we experienced that a family member was drunk on the porch one afternoon, this was inappropriate, however he was not rude in any way. The matress was hard as stone and the room was extremely hot even though we had a fan. It was a bit away from the bay and there was no breakfast avaliable, even though it said it on booking.com.

Yes: I've had a very nice and pleasent stay at Tehan Homestay. The room is very nice and also the place where you are staying is close to everything in Hiri. In the night its nice to have a tuktuk but you can also ask the family, because they have one and want to pick you up whenever. Had a good stay! :)

There is no breakfast included. Not a problem for sure, but good to know and buy yourself.

i had a great stay. you could rent a scooter there. it is a 5 minute walk to the beach. they also washed my clothes. I get them back at the same day. the family is very lovely ☺️ I would come back

Had a perfect stay at the families place. Just 2 minutes walking to the beach, wonderful located right next to the rocks facing South. Just the son spoke English, but he was always almost always there and ready to help out if questions emerged. Would recommend a stay, everything you could expect from a family stay home.

The hosts are most welcoming and friendly. The view is incredible. Overlooking the sea with a lovely shaded outside sitting area for the heat of day.

Beautiful area surounded by nature, beaches are close.

There was a lizard living in the roof, making noises at night and showing his tale thru the hole in the roof 🦎 Housekeeper didn’t find this as a problem.
