The View at Glenloch - Home Stay

The location was wonderful, overlooking the tea plantation and reservoir. Only a 10 minute stroll to the plantation factory. The breakfast was, by Prosper’s admission, simple. What made this home stay for us was meeting Prosper. He was the kindest man and although we only stayed 1 night it was like leaving a friend when we said goodbye. We can’t recommend Glenloch view highly enough

Can’t think of anything

This was the perfect stop after hiking Stage 3 of the Pekoe Trail. It is right next to the Trail before town. The view is fantastic, it is quiet and an ideal place to relax and recover. We had a hot shower and a good night of sleep in the comfy bed. Prosper is your host and a true gem. He will make you feel at home immediately. He helped us having food delivered to the Homestay, made us some tea and a nice breakfast in the morning and organized a tour on the nearby tea farm.

This place is the epitome of Sri Lankan hospitality and friendliness. In all of our travels we have never experienced the same level of genuine care, interest and helpfulness. The room was immaculate. The views from the house are unrivaled. A few minutes walk to the Glenloch tea plantation, which was the most interesting plantation tour we did in Sri lanka. Prosper is a great host and has an endless supply of stories that will entertain you for hours. He can advise on great local walks to do and even accompanied us on one. This is the type of place where you come to relax and not rush around. Yes the access road is bad but manageable and not a reason to avoid this place. We drove it ourselves in our tuktuk. And there is always the option of leaving your car at the tea factory which is about 800m walk to the guesthouse. Would not hesitate to return.

Awesome view! Quiet area and beautiful surroundings. The room is modern, spacious and clean. Mr. Prosper is very welcoming and kind. Here you feel like you are at home. The last 800 meters of the road are not so good, but if you ride a bike you just need to go slowly and it is absolutely safe.

Everything is perfect!

Our Host and the housekeeper Subha went totally out of their way to make our stay memorable. Enjoyed some good conversations with the host Mr. Bemunuge. Although only breakfast was available on site, we were able to get meals delivered whenever needed. Good hiking in the area including a trail going up the hill just behind the house.

Access road was not in a good condition although we managed to get our car all the way up hill. However, there is provision to park your vehicle and take a tuk-tuk or even walk up as it's less than one km.

Very nice and clean place managed by a friendly and amiable host. The view is splendid.

Last part of the road is a bit difficult for a car/van.
