The room is very private with a great outdoor garden space. It is also a short walk from the beach and restaurants.

We had an amazing stay at this beautiful homestay. Such a lovely family, we had a very warm welcome and got great tipps for our stay and onwards journey. Great breakfast, especially the local dishes and also delicious home-cooked dinner. They put a lot of effort into running the place as sustainable as possible and can give good recommendations on responsible safaris and whale watching tours (Gayashan is a marine biologist). We loved the garden as much as the nicely decorated room. We can absolutely recommend the Sand Dollar House!

A hidden gem in Hirikiteya... The apartment has everything you need to have a good time. We went as a couple and didn't miss anything, it even has a hair dryer... You have the space to yourself and can relax, but the host can help you with everything you need really quickly. It's a bit up the hill ( around 7 minutes to the beach) but the location is quiet and green...

Our three-day stay in Gayashan and Roshani's place has become (despite having already visited Sri Lanka several times) our new gold standard of homestays. We felt welcomed and supported by their whole family - including their spontaneously celebrating my birthday. And, at the same time we had all the space and privacy we could have needed: our hosts managed this balancing act with grace and considerateness. Our time there as honorary family members passed really quickly, we very much hope to return.

It was an absolute pleasure and great experience to stay at this place, in the middle of wildlife of Sri Lanka! The hosts are the best you'll find - educated about the country's natural environment, ecology, buddhism, history. They shared this knowledge with us, also guided us during main local events. The place is fully sustainable, you'll also experience there animals like peacocks, monkeys, plenty of birds and butterflies. Breakfasts are homemade sri lankan cousine. Perfect location, only few minutes walk to the beach. We recommend this place to everyone, who are not only looking for a convenient homestay, but also one in the life time experience!
