Backwater Breeze

We had an amazing time here! The view from the balcony is incredible and we loved watching the birds and houseboats pass by. The room itself was very comfortable with a well fitted bathroom. What really sets this apart was our hosts. Ajish was so helpful in arranging taxis and tuk tuks for us, he even drove us to a restaurant on our first night as we arrived late. I have seen some comments about the remote location away from the main road- for us that was a bonus as it’s more peaceful, but just ask for help and the hosts are able to arrange transport so that really isn’t an issue. They even leant us free bicycles so we could explore the area! Ajish’s mother was so kind, she made lovely breakfasts and helped us with laundry free of charge. The lady who brought us breakfast was very friendly and arranged for kayaking and sikkara boat. Nothing was too much trouble for these brilliant hosts.

Room didn’t have a fridge however the hosts very kindly let us put our drinks in their own fridge

The location of the property is incredibly beautiful. You can watch an amazing diversity of bird life sitting on the veranda. The accommodation is basic but clean and has a ceiling fan and AC. However the location and service provided by the family who run the hotel make it feel really special. Breakfast is brought to you on your veranda every morning and is different each day. The family who run the hotel will also call you a taxi if you want to go into town.

There are quite a few power outages in the location. They were over quickly and not a huge problem but that might be an issue for some people. There are only two restaurants within easy walking distance and both close quite early so we were home rather early each night.

Everything works fine at the property. The AC, the hot water, the hosts. Very clean rooms/bathrooms and the hosts are very very good. They will cook some great curries for you and go of out of the way to cater to your needs. And yes! Excellent sunset and views as houseboats go by! Very idyllic!

This property is located at an excellent spot opposite to backwaters and close to shikara boats.

property is clean but materials in washroom and room seems old. need better maintenance.
