West Point Backpackers Hostel

It was amazing, the host was very nice. I highly recommend this hotel.

Perfect stay !! Rebecca the hoster and her family will do everything to make you feel at home. Helps you in any ways and gives you lots of advice for traveling and exploring the area. The room is big clean and well organised, don't forget to bring with you warm pajama. Also the breakfast is delicious and you get to be part of the family. I recommend with all my heart and I'm sure you will not find better stay in Darjeeling.

Simply exceptional. The hospitality, the care, the guidance throughout our stay made us feel at home, the location was superb and the view from the balcony was simply amazing.. Thanks to Rebecca Ma'am and her family for the hospitality.. Would suggest you to stay there atleast once and you all would find my review to be underrated.. Please be there atleast once. This was a fantastic stay with a wonderful host and great value for money! The best part of this stay was the host - Rebecca who made my stay very special. She is very warm, kind, friendly, helpful, and planned a tailored itinerary of Darjeeling based on what I like to do (which is a lot of walking/exploring!). She also knows local drivers who can take you to places (e.g. Tiger Hill, Bagdogra airport etc.) for very reasonable rates. It was also great eating fresh breakfast at the family home above the room, and getting to also know the wider family, who are also very welcoming, friendly, have a vast knowledge of the area and great stories to share. The location is very good too, around 20 min walk to the Mall (or take a shared cab from just outside the hostel for 15 rupees). There are several shops and places to eat outside the hostel too, and the Toy Train runs past the home which is really cool. The room itself was clean, very spacious, and the bathroom had a good hot water supply. The rooms were built by Rebecca’s father so they have character and history to them which made it more special. There was also homemade chocolates in the room, along with local Darjeeling tea which was a nice touch. From the room’s terrace, you have a great view and can see the valley and the mountains (including Kangchenjunga). Further, I would also highly recommend visiting the lovely Dorjay and Leela who run the Dolma restaurant that is opposite the hostel (and recommended by Rebecca). They only cook fresh food, made daily and you will need to pre-order so that they buy the ingredients. The food is great, very tasty and you get a real authentic, local experience. I ate dinner there every day I stayed at the hostel, and Dorjay is very friendly and nice to chat with too. I would highly recommend this hostel to anybody visiting Darjeeling. I had a great and comfortable stay. The stay was made great by Rebecca’s hosting, she was extremely friendly, caring and helpful, helping me plan my itinerary for Darjeeling, my Tiger Hill trip and transport back to the airport. The hostel is located a short cab ride or a 30 min walk to centre, and sights such as the peace pagoda, Dali monastery and the toy train are a short walk away as well. There is also a great view outside the room and tea provided by Rebecca is great. I would highly recommend staying with Rebecca for anyone travelling to Darjeeling.

I came for 5 nights and due to the terrible rains I was unable to get to Sikkim this time round. But it mattered not as I got to explore this amazing city! The hosts Rebecca and Sharon became my sisters and once you are here, you are HOME! Exploring the upper rias of DB Giri and Gandhi Road are a must: get away from Hill Cart (after you’ve exploed it!) and head up to the peace of the higher roads that lead you towards Ghoom or Chowrasta!

Nothing - it’s your home away from home

I liked the owner's friendly behaviour first. Then it comes to resources arrangements - like everything required was already there. The chocolates and especially the tea offered were excellent. I thoroughly enjoyed my stays there and would recommend others too.

The only thing which was a bit annoying was the power cut. If you intend to do anything using your laptop or tab then make sure you have your mini usp and internet dongle .
