Modern Flat in Alicante

The apartment was spacious with three bedrooms, two nice bathrooms, and two sitting areas. Centrally located in the old town of Alicante with shops and restaurants only a few steps away. The beach was within a 3-minutes easy walking distance. Effective AC that kept all of the apartment at a very comfortable temperature on a very hot day in August.

There was a bit too much hair and dust lying around the floors and furniture for our comfort. We also found a huge long-tailed silverfish (skjeggkre) and ants in the apartment. I don't mind the ants, but the long-tailed silverfish are notorious and something we don't want to bringing home with us. Though the apartment is somewhat modernized, it sits in an old building (as you would expect in the old city) with several other private units. Overall the building did seem to be a bit on the dated side, with old dusty ventilation shafts and piping infrastructure. We found the building quite noisy, with little soundproofing between the floors and to the outside. On our first night, we were kept up by drunk people arguing aggressively outside. There is not a lot of traffic in the streets, but the sound seems to travel well between the narrow streets and into the apartment. The other night it was quieter, and we slept quite well. I guess all of this can be considered the charm of staying in an authentic apartment in the old city. No convenient parking opportunities nearby.
