Le Carré Mercière , Appartements de Luxe au cœur de Lyon, Loft

The property is an excellent location in the middle of cafe, restaurants, easy walk to river. It is a beautiful apartment with great bed & bathroom.

Upstairs bedroom is via a ladder, no hand rail, upstairs has a low roof so difficult to stand in bedroom. When we arrived we were unable to access property as they had not given us codes, it took several hours for the owners to communicate with us. It was very disappointing to spend 3 hours waiting outside property after a long trip from Australia.

It was a bit cold at night.

Fantastic location since you are literally staying above restaurant row. Loads of places to eat/drink with the metro nearby. Only a few snacks were left in the kitchen, nothing I would consider a breakfast, so make sure you plan ahead and pick up something for breakfast. Refrig and freezer were helpful since we would bring in several drinks and freeze them to keep ourselves cool

Host should have mentioned that a taxi or Uber cannot drop you at your door since this location is located in a pedestrian row. Our room, located up a flight of stairs with no elevator, did not look like the photo displayed in the picture above. Our room had poor lighting confusing remotes that operated the lights and fan. France was experiencing a heat wave and with only a small fan to circulate hot air and no AC, it was very uncomfortable to be in that room. In addition, the windows when open were located right above the garbage containers, so were quite smelly with several mosquitoes, so could not be left open. Not pleasant to be in this room at night. We had to request extra towel because the spray from the shower was left in a position that sprayed all over when turned on and made the floor a slip hazard. Biggest complaint was every time I texted the host, she would reply in French, which led me to believe she understood English, but didn't care to respond in it. I had to use Google Translate to interpret every received message which was quite frustrating.

The apartment is absolutely beautiful and in a wonderful lively spot. Opening the windows brought in the lively buzz from Rue Merciere, but once the windows were closed, the apartment was lovely and quiet. Slightly quirky access to the loft bed, but that only added to the experience! Surrounded by restaurants of all types.
