Upper Howick Hideaway

Ideal location for town. Away from the hustle and bustle

The property could do with a stand up shows in the bathroom. A microwave would have been useful but with the compactness of the kitchen we accept that it wasn’t practical at this time. Please don’t take these as negative comments more as observations for any future developments.

Hidden away, so very quiet. Looking at previous reviews, we were a bit worried about noise from the flat below but wasn't a problem and the clock chime from the nearby church was louder than the clock below (neither kept us awake) Lovely decor, very relaxing. Good selection of games, books, maps and information on local attractions and events. Short 5 minute walk to the famous bookstore and 10 minutes to the castle. No reserved parking but plenty of on street parking outside.

Access to the flat is via fairly worn wooden stairs. The treads are narrow and don't have risers so you can see through. Difficult to navigate with suitcases and could be an issue for anyone with mobility difficulties or even slight fear of heights. Maybe needs a handrail on both sides and needs to be clearly mentioned in the details. Bath/shower area would benefit from a screen to protect the bathroom. Could only use the hand held shower for rinsing, not for a full shower.

So clean, spacious, lovely touches by the host with an eye for detail. Location was so quiet but an easy 5 minutes walk through really interesting historic architecture. Don’t be put off by reviews in the access to the flat, it’s simple, lit with one staircase. Parked outside every night. Highly recommend and every message to the host got a swift reply. In my opinion great value for money.

The wooden stairs to the property were a bit wobbly!! Felt a bit scary.

Excellent location for Alnwick castle and town centre. Lounge is nice a spacious.

A shower would have made life easier. The bed was uncomfortable and new pillows are needed as well.
