16 John Walker House River Views, Parking and Lift

Excellent location for York Town centre, easy working distance to most attractions, especially The Shambles and the Jorvik Centre. All required household items were in good and usable condition, and allowed us to prepare breakfasts as needed, prior to stepping out for our sightseeing. Having secure off-street parking was also appreciated. Many restaurants are close by and within easy walking distance, either directly on Walmgate or closer to The Shambles.

Accommodation was good and reasonably well maintained, although as with many rental properties some aspects need to be kept on top of, in this case it was mainly the main bathroom where the over bath shower needs to be improved as it does not really serve its purpose and comes out of the shower rail quite easily. In addition as the unit appears to be within an hard water area the kettle needs some descaling either with the provision of descaler or during the standard cleaning process of the unit.

Lovely clean comfy apartment in a brilliant location walking distance to everything well equipped and a lovely balcony. It had a brilliant file with lots of local Information eating places etc and instructions for using everything really well organised

Excellent location, walking distance to everything York has to offer and quiet in the evening. Very secure and very handy to have the parking space. The lift to the garage area made things accessible for my daughter who is an ambulant wheelchair user and all the rooms offered plenty of space. It was nice to have two decent sized bathrooms and we made good use of the kitchen facilities for breakfast. Slept like logs each night.

Little issue with check in - someone else was in the apartment - but was all soon resolved. Cleaning was ok inside, but the balcony was dirty. The walls need a touch up, the apartment is looking a bit grubby and tired in places. The twin bedroom could do with a black out blind.

Location was good, flat very spacious, everything you needed, shower was great too, secure parking was a bonus, all in all a great stay ,would return

My husband smokes, and he didn't like it that you could not smoke on balcony , didn't spoil his stay though

Great location for the Shambles and old town.

It needs a bit of a makeover and is missing a lot of little things. Neither of the bathrooms have enough counter space or loo roll dispensers. Desk chair needs repairs. The closet in the main room is full of two Henry vacuums. The chairs for the dinner table need a good clean. Nothing horrible, just needs a bit of love and it would be amazing.

Balcony over the water was lovely in the sunny weather. Location so close to the main part of the city all within walking distance

Better than a hotel, a lovely place to sit with friends after a night or day out. Well located in a quiet area, not far from the city centre but with local amenities near by. Clean and well presented with two bathrooms, which was perfect for a group of 4 friends.

The bathrooms in both the master and side bedroom had major lino issues. It was bumpy and raised, as if water had got underneath and hadn't been fixed. We told the lettings company but received no compensation and it was a trip hazard which we had to navigate. We also had to ask them to attend the property on our 4 night stay and clean the patio as it was dirty. Overall and very nice and wonderfully central apartment with a brilliant view of the river and very quiet. Near to all the bars/pubs and reasonably priced, with comfy beds etc.... but needs repair work in places. I would stay there again, but only if lino was repaired.
