Alexander House

Excellent location, everything you need on the doorstep, independent shops, bars, takeaways, pubs, historical buildings, lovely walks. The flat is nice and spacious ,well equipped and peaceful, highly recommend.

All hot water taps were non existent. Shower worked ok.

It wasn’t that clean (first impression was until you looked closely) The shower pressures were ridiculously poor and temperature was intermittent The wifi was non existent for the first day but staff managed to get it rebooted The accommodation had a stale smell to them Some kitchen basics were missing

The apartment has more space and has all requirements. We had great time staying at this place however the cleaner had to knock on the door for us to checkout. They can adjust check out time to noon.

Flat 4 Alexander House. Upon arrival, key didn’t work despite me trying it repeatedly in front of the landlady who took 45 mins to get there. Had to rebook elsewhere at significant expense and hassle. Landlady initially refused refund because SHE could make the key work (clearly not appreciating that it was ME needing reliable access without calling her out repeatedly over the weekend). Then she accused me of lying (because clearly after a very long journey and only expensive alternatives available in Corsham, I thought I’d just do that to wind her up (eyeroll)). Cue long obnoxious messages from her despite my good grace and thanking her for trying to help. Finally agreed to refund of 2 out of 3 nights after escalating to Customer Service more than once. Good example of why booking.com and AirBnB hosts need better regulation. Best avoided. Not the kind of ‘host’ you want when something goes wrong and you’re far from home.
