"We enjoyed the location with the lake and all the wildlife but very secluded with no wifi."

The units were really well laid out. I felt that we had enough room for everything we wanted to do. It also had a lovely deck that was very peaceful.

Very relaxing and quiet just whats needed. Boat is lovely and the seat area makes it better. Swans and wild life on lakes were amazing to chill and watch.

"Our stay, tranquil, amazing , chilled out and perfect stay."

Arrived at the property , no way to enter, phoned number on the email, phoned another number, the man who answered was rude and said that we should have received an email with code numbers which we had not received, he said that l am 500 miles away and cannot not help but eventually he sent the email again with key codes. We looked at the gates and couldn’t find key box because no one had explained it would be on the backside of gate which we eventually found but the code would not let us gain access. We phoned another number a Mrs Mop who was so so helpful, she gave us the correct key codes to the gate and property. Mrs Mop checked with us later to make sure that everything was alright. We was absolutely delighted with the hausboot experience , it is in such an idyllic setting, tranquil but only a few minutes away from main roads but you wouldn’t know it. Bedding , toiletries, tea, coffee, milk etc was a welcome touch. Lots of attractions to visit within a 20 to 30 minutes drive. Would recommend to anyone apart from the booking.com part. Thank you Maria( Mrs Mop)

The whole experience with booking.com , poor information from the them.

"Very Good"

"Short overnight stay"

9.0

I love the remoteness peace tranquility and being at one with nature of this place. Again remote but not too far from local amenities of Bathgate . This time I stayed in the houseboat although the sun loungers on the upper deck were no longer there ?? We only stayed one night though but if staying longer this may have been an issue given the good weather . Easy check in via lockbox and great remote contact by host . Tv in houseboats are very small . Larger screen in mod pods . Wall to wall windows but blinds ceiling to floor for privacy . Comfortable beds . Eco friendly toilet and shower supplied by water tank which lasts 48 hours so you have to be frugal with use . However no issues with hosts on prior occasion when refilling tank . Small wardrobe for clothing . On a lake - Swans and ducks in lake swim up to boats

No complaints ! Could be a bit claustrophobic for 4 people - even 2 adults and 2 children . I would advise 2 units for 4 people ( although this makes things a bit more costly )or the 2 bedroomed accommodation .

"Peaceful , tranquil weekend in a place of natural beauty ."

9.0

Guess I ve been lucky with this place . This is my 5th stay here and I love it . This was a last minute booking due to good weather and as I stay local this is my go to "chill out" place for total peace and tranquility at peace with nature . You can totally switch off here but are within distance of local amenities for shops restaurants ( although it is a mile walk ) You are a bit isolated but not totally cut off . A car is essential if you don't like to walk . Bathgate is the nearest town and has a great selection of shops , take aways and restaurants and delivery is possible to your accommodation .I suppose I was fortunate enough to stay here when everything was relatively new and there was someone to meet you onsite . However post covid most things have changed to "remote access" . Not the accommodations fault . During its infancy this place had golf carts on site to take you to your pod .I first stayed in the houseboats - I suppose I was a little disadvantaged as the host on that occasion was very present and talked us through how everything worked The houseboats are off grid and have a water tank which contains only enough water for 2 days therefore a short stay is enough or if staying longer be aware of this . We stayed in 2 houseboats initially and with 2 children the water quickly ran out . This is not a problem but something to be aware of . We had great fun on the last day with the kids washing dishes without mod cons . My son stayed on his own in a houseboat this time and not much has changed in terms of the internal accommodation. Clean and tidy comfortable and you can open the doors if it gets too hot . Access to canoes which my son loves . We had to sign a disclaimer the first time we stayed but life jackets are available .

My most recent stay was in the 2 bedroom accommodation which was clean tidy and a really comfortable mattress . Stay here if you want more space . House boats are very compact .We had the whole place to ourselves with the exception of another couple in the houseboats. Other reviews - Yes I did note that the hot tubs were not available and that the deck chairs on the top of the houseboats no longer there on some of them . I support the comments on bird poo . Although unavoidable in a place of nature - not a good look and could be cleaned off on the day when guests are expected . Lots of spiders but this is a place of nature - again unavoidable and not the properties fault . Contact with host was remote but good communication before , after and during stay. If anything this place externally is a bit less well kempt ( likely due to the absence of Ewen the groundsmans ) However I have never had any issues on any of my stays with the accommodation , but if no one stays there will be no revenue to make essential improvements . If anything externally the place could do with a freshen up and as first impressions count so could the reception area . This is a place of natural beauty with swans , ducks , deer and hares . It is eco friendly and I would be saddened if it were to change or close due to lack of custom . Here you have privacy , freedom peace and quiet . The sunrises and sunsets are fantastic . The two bedroom property stands alone therefore you have total privacy . I will be back . I also booked an extra 2 nights to extend my stay . If you like peace , quiet and privacy close to nature , stay here .
