Modern & Spacious 2 bed Merchant City Apart-High St

Location was great. It was cosy on arrival. It had plenty space and looked lovely.

These are just small comments. There were no bins in the bathrooms or bedrooms. Lack of plugs beside a mirror was a pest for doing your hair.

Replacement property was inferior

On June 12, I booked and paid for “Modern & Spacious 2 Bed Merchant City Apartment” at 12 High Street (to be referred to as “High Street”) for September 12-20, 2023. The apartment was advertised as 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom, and the pictures looked great. I contacted the host for early check in at 2PM instead of 3, and I contacted them to confirm that the apartment had a lift, because it was on the 7th floor, and there was no way we could manage stairs, and a lift was confirmed. We prepaid £1,407.00 for the 8 nights, which came to $1,664.52 On September 11, High Street contacted me for picture ID’s for me and my travel companion, and a £300 refundable cleaning deposit (as was indicated on Booking.com), all of which I promptly sent, and High Street confirmed as having received. Later that same day, I received a second request for both the ID’s and the deposit, but when I explained both had been sent, High Street indicated that it was just an automated e-mail. Also on September 11, I received the information for check in at 12 High Street, how to obtain the keys, and detailed instructions for where to pickup the keys, and a link to how to open the doors, the location of the lift, the location of the trash, and other items relative to our upcoming stay. They also indicated that an hour before check-in, we would receive the key code to take to the corner shop where the keys would be held for pickup. On September 12, we traveled from Edinburgh to Glasgow and waited for the message with the key code that we were to receive an hour before check in, which would have been 1PM for a 2PM check in. When the key code was not received as promised, I contacted them to ask when we would get our code to pickup our keys. High Street then indicated that they had been trying to contact me, so I sent them my contact information, which they already had, as we had been corresponding for months.

The property was well located in Glasgow. The lift and underground car parking were a welcome relief. The lounge are was comfortable and the neighbourhood was quiet.

The property was not clean. I found remnants of past visitors everywhere: visible dirt in the carpet, hairs on the bathroom tiles, food remnants and crumbs in kitchen cupboards and drawers. It looks like it gets a quick surface clean between hires. Also cheap and tatty towels were supplied and the all pillows need replacing.
