Squeaky floorboards but totally expected with this type of property

The location was amazing, right in the center of York however tucked away a little so very quiet at night. Loads of bars and restaurants nearby and lots to do in York. The house itself was lovely and very full of character. The bed in the main bedroom was soft and comfortable whilst the beds in the other room were much firmer but still comfy. Finally all the facilities were excellent. WiFi was good throughout and the TV and soundbar in the living room were really good.

Only 1 of the windows in the whole house opens and there is no air conditioning! Thankfully were stayed there in a typical British summer so it was cold and wet however could be a real problem in the unlikely event of a heatwave. Some of the cups and glasses were a little grubby when we arrived so we spent the first half an hour washing everything by hand as there is no dishwasher (although oddly they provided dishwasher tablets!). Beds are as wonky as the house which takes a little getting used to.

location, cleanliness and very warm as it was freezing outside, well equipped and they left a lovely complementary hamper for us to enjoy, full of some delicious treats, tea, milk, crisps, pop corn, jam, biscuits.

check in was 4pm which in the winter initially finding it and the keys boxes in the dark is not good at all! then having to move the car and read the parking zones lamp posts again in the dark is very difficult! we had to hang about to go in. Property itself very quirky, great location and clean but very very unlevel and makes you feel a bit sea sick like your on a boat! takes some getting used to!

Not good customer care/contact from agents. Property not available until 4pm on check in day (yes we knew that when we booked) but had hoped they'd allow us in earlier which they didn't nor did they make any contact with us on our day of arrival even though we called them and they said they contact us but we didn't hear from them at all about getting in earlier than 4pm. There were issues with cleanliness of the property which I emailed them about whilst still staying there.

Fantastic, central location. We loved the quirkiness of the old property - all the floors are uneven and it proved quite entertaining. The cottage is beautifully furnished and has quality furniture and beds. The welcome pack was absolutely fantastic, the best I have had.

It was raining and I slipped and fell on the steps/flagstones coming through the main building. The next day, when it was light, I realised there was green algae, but the back stairs/entrance porch were not lit well enough to see this or avoid it.

the fact that free parking was SUPPOSED to be included, we were asked to use an out of date permit badge when parking our car but after over 1/2 hour driving around in the designated parking areas we could NOT find anywhere to park other than in area R18 which we were also advised to park, after parking our car in area R18 we received a parking fine, the host told us not to worry they would pay it but they later have refused to pay the fine. Apart from that there was a smell like sewage whilst using the washing machine which went all through the rooms.
