The location of the property and amenities. Cleaned professionally.

1) Stressful check-in. --Paid parking about 5mins away from property. No restriction free parking nearby. Cannot stop nearby to off-load or get a permit as inspectors pester you not to stop. --The keys are not in the porch of the door you enter as instructed, but through to the outside of the building in an annex building build in the garden where you'll be staying. Took me a call and 5 minutes to located the key box. Will probably take longer in the dark. 2) Troublesome parking. --The nearest road that is covered by parking permit almost never has an empty space. You'll have to walk about 6 mins to find a space. You'd be lucky to fine a space if you return back in the evening. 3) Wonky property and very uncomfortable beds -- The floors are so unlevelled you need to take care walking in the bedroom. -- The double bed is so unlevelled you'd be better off bringing a brick or 2 to level it. We couldn't sleep as it felt like you're sleeping on a slope. -- The second double bed has 2 single bed mattresses joined together. The spring mattress barely has any cushioning and was digging into the skin. -- The property is right next the river and noisy swans will keep you awake. Not that it's property's fault but if you're a light sleeper, good luck. 4) Poor customer support. -- When you complain about any of the above, be ready to be met with blunt 'It's a quirky character of the property, no one has ever complained, you can pay in full for another property we have if you'd like to move but no compensation sorry. Expect many have left worse reviews. 5) No dishwasher 6) Check-out -- Same hassle as check-in. You park the car 5 mins away if you're lucky, pay, return the parking permit in the property and depart.

The cottage was in a great location the access information was great I've stayed in several locations within this building the decor ect are all nice and the facilities for eg dishes and glasses ect more than needed for a few nights stay I enjoyed the cleaning supplies washing up liquid dishwasher and washing machine tabs

The inside of the second bedroom window had black mould as well as the shower pan and in the sitting room spiders webs on windows at top just a little more attention to cleaning required other parts were very clean there was no tea towel for dishes or welcome pack on arrival although we called into office and a pack was dropped off the next day still no tea towel

This property was clean and tidy , loved all the paintings around the building . Beds were really comfy and we had a good nights sleep.

Parking isn’t great but that’s what comes with staying in the centre.

Central location and the history of the property

To be very, very picky, the beds were a little too soft and due to the age of the property and uneven floors sleeping on a slope was not the most comfortable but not so much that I wouldn’t stay here again. Overall lovely , quaint cottage, spotlessly clean, perfect location. Couldn’t have asked for better.

Amazing location, character, size

Sloping floors did make you feel a bit seasick. A dishwasher would have been more useful than a washing machine

The location was perfect, quiet but close to all amenities. The cottage was cozy and charmingly quirky. Communication with Stays York was excellent.

The only thing I didn't like was having to cut short my holiday and leave a day early due to unforseen family circumstances.

Parking was not at the property but a few streets away, although appreciate this was only possible

A little slopey which is understandable for the age of the building
