Difficult to find something

The apartment was perfectly positioned just a short walk into the town. After looking at previous reviews regarding cleanliness I was a little apprehensive. I did bleach both showers on arrival as they did have mould around the base. I would say the main areas are clean enough though. Beds are very comfortable.

Just a little more attention to detail and the apartment would be ideal. For example weeding the outdoor area and dusting higher areas to remove cobwebs.

Excellent location, good facilities, really comfortable beds. Kitchen great.

Living room carpet was dirty and badly stained we had to hoover as it had not been done. The en suite shower we didn't use as it was so mouldy and both toilets weren't cleaned.

Great location and views, we love staying in this area of Whitby so we were very happy with that. Comfortable beds and the upstairs living area was nice.

The apartment needs a really good deep clean, there is black mold in the ensuite shower and the whole of the downstairs (sleeping area) felt and smelt damp and foisty often with a drain odour coming from the ensuite bathroom. Perhaps some kind of dehumidifier could help. The carpets really need a clean, there are stains all over them, especially the living room one. I found a lot of dead flies and insects in the bedroom behind the sofa and the window sills and blinds needed cleaning. Many of the walls could do with a good touch up of paint. Outside the apartment was a dirty quilt, other rubbish and overgrown weeds, a shame as it could be a nice seating area for guests. There was a dishwasher but no tablets so we couldn’t start it before we left. The 2 previous years we have stayed at The Chiltern at Carlill House (another Host & Stay property) which was immaculate so this was definitely a disappointment especially as the break down of our bill stated a £60 cleaning fee! We also had free parking before which isn’t included at Beach View. Reading other reviews it is clear that the cleaning and mold issues have not been addressed as they are mentioned in reviews from over 2 years ago. It’s a real shame as this could be such a lovely place to stay but we probably won’t book it again.

First impression not good . External needs a good weeding and tidying up. For sale board and dirty quilt left outside the lounge window Internal window sills and blinds were filthy in every room Ensuite shower needs re mastic. Looks grubby. As the bedrooms were in the basement they felt damp at first. Had to open the windows but due to the lack of care outside it was not a pleasant view Such a shame .

Our bathroom downstairs lino was ripped hence couldn't close door so couldn't use shower as there was 4people staying also we were supposed to check in at 4 had to ring round didn't get in apartment till 5pm

The location was great. The view to the park and the ocean view were wonderful!

The lock box for the keys was tricky. It took a few times to make it work. There was very little dish soap, no dishwasher soap or laundry soap. When I texted the host about it, they said it was not provided. When I have traveled to other apartments, other accommodations provided some soap to use things like the dishwasher or washing machine if they are advertised as having them in the apartment. As someone who is only there for 4 nights, am I expected to provide my own soap? Also, the door on one of the bathrooms was too tall and caused the vinyl floor to rip when we shut the door. Host and Stay was very accommodating when we called to report it. It was stressful for us that it happened and seemed like the caretaker should have noticed it before. Also, the address was not clearly marked. The name of the accommodation and the street number was listed on the building around the corner. We finally figured it out based on the address next door. The outside steps and entry had garbage (aluminum foil, paper wrappings, etc.) strewn on them. Other properties on the street were not like this. Not sure how often this property is checked for cleanliness. Inside was very clean.
