Hidden gem apartment in picturesque village close to Durham

Lovely setting. Mike was very friendly and helpful. The kitchen was well stocked, and there were tea and coffee--making facilities in the bedrooms. The shower was great.

This accommodation would be perfect in the summer. The bedrooms and bathroom are in a separate building to the kitchen/lounge area. There is a lovely courtyard in between, but it can be a bit chilly getting from one building to another when the weather is not so clement.

The area was quiet and peaceful. The beds were comfortable.

I wasn't aware the property was in two halves so to speak. I chose this property as it was ground floor and would be helpful for my mother who has mobility needs. The first night the heavens opened and meant she needed to walk in the rain back and forth to the toilet from the lounge area through the court yard. Those needs to be explained properly in the details on Booking.com The host had a social gathering in the courtyard on the second night and asked if we minded, to be fair I felt uncomfortable with it but said nothing especially as we were told it would be between 6pm and 8pm. The gathering finished just before 11pm.

Very nice peaceful location. Accommodation spread across two buildings: living room with integrated kitchen in building which is home of owner (separated by locked door); bedrooms, each with a bunk bed and another bed, and bathroom across courtyard.

Always prefer completely separate accommodation, but host (Mike) was very welcoming and flexible. Didn’t like extra charge for dogs, but had assumed that by searching for dog friendly properties this would have been included in price.

Perfectly situated in a beautiful rural setting, surrounded by glorious fields and outstanding walks, yet a 10 minute drive from an excellent village in Lanchester. Bedrooms overlooking the most beautiful horses who would frequently come and say hello. An exceptionally friendly little hamlet, if you want a beautiful escape from it all. I especially loved the birds, butterflies and wildlife. Mike is an amazing host, sensitive to my needing my own space, but also very generous in providing me with free produce from his allotment. Feeling totally refreshed from my 5 days and will undoubtedly return. Highly recommended 👌

All was great

Mike, our host was absolutely amazing 👏. Really nice guy, gives you knowledge about, local restaurants, shops for filling up the fridge freezer etc. Perfect place for a 'get away and relax' The best part of his place, is the fact that; the main house, lounge and kitchen, is separate, but literally only ten paces from one another. So if there's more than just a couple staying. As in, 4~5 adults, it's perfect (imo) because if anyone wants an early night, they're not going to be disturbed, from the lounge/kitchen. Oh and the wood burning 🔥 fireplace, is hypnotic and so cosy! Never had the central heating on, for the duration of our stay! Would highly recommend 👌. I'll definitely be going back there, the first opportunity I have, to do so!

Nothing not to like. It's honestly, perfection, personified. Spotlessly clean; it really is a hidden diamond of a place!
