Penny's Old Town Houses

Central yet calm side street, amazingly quiet given it's basically in the port. All props you may need, from toaster to clothes drying rack. Great for longer stay when you want to shop, cook, wash etc. Aircon makes it super comfortable really quickly. Small seating outside for amazing eating in the old medieval street

A bit too dark. Lower levels of a tall house on a very narrow street with very small windows. Needs artificial lighting all the time. Insects do appear around the kitchen, despite the chemicals deployed, but that's to be expected

This is a lovely apartment, tastefully kitted out to a very high specification, maintaining the character of the old building but with modern facilities. The kittenette and bathroom were stylishly done with everything you need, the bed is extremely comfortable and there is a lovely little balcony. The host was very helpful and accommodating and her communication was clear, prompt and friendly. Fabulous quite location but still in the very heart of Chania old town/harbour area.

The roof terrace is lovely but access up and down is a little tricky. Guests should also be aware that the bathroom is also down a flight of stairs.

The fact it was located in Old Town and easy access to the main attractions.

The extremely strong musty smell. The bathroom is located on the ground floor and is only accessed by a tricky staircase making really unsuitable for old or infirm people like ourselves.

So firstly let’s start with Penny. She kept in touch right from the booking, all through the stay and at the end as well but without being intrusive. Penny is very attentive and responsive to messages. The property is compact but the best use of the space has been made. The property is as per the numerous photographs and is modern and well equipped. The bed was very comfortable with soft, high thread count bedding and we slept very well. The location is great for the heart of Chania and a multitude of very good restaurants and historical sites / attractions are within walking distance.

The property is compact and although the space has been maximised there are a couple of limitations. The head height of the stairs is quite low. myself and my wife are both vertically challenged and we still had to duck our heads and be careful going up and down stairs. The roof terrace is well kept and a great space but the stairs leading up to it are steep and the treads alternate is two directions. Some care is required getting up and down and it was a little too precarious for us us so we didn’t use it. You certainly wouldn’t want to come down the stairs are a few glasses of wine. That said the inability to use the space didn’t impact our stay and any sunbathing took place at the beach which is just a 15 min walk away.

Perfect location. Quiet although next to the old harbor. Simply impressive!

Excellent location in the lovely old town part of Chania. Just a few streets back from the numerous restaurants in the harbour and a reasonably short walk to the beach, into town and to the bus station but far enough back to escape for some peace and quiet. The accommodation was tastefully decorated and perfect for a couple just looking for a base for a few days or a week away for some relaxation. They rooms were cleaned regularly and our host was easy to contact if we needed her and always very polite. Couldn’t fault it for what we we’re looking for. Many thanks Penny.

It wasn’t a problem for us but you have mobility issues you would be better considering a more accessible area of Chania. It all depends on what you are looking for.

great location , lovely and clean and a great bonus to have it cleaned and fresh sheets and towels halfway through our week .

the host penny is incredibly friendly and the location is absolute perfect!
