The Heart of Palace Apartment

Great location, comfortable and clean apartment

The owners were terrific- met us at midnight to show us to the apartment as our flight was very late, and helped us with our luggage. Quick to reply to inquiries and offer recommendations. The apartment had a great location inside the "Palace" walls. Super windows let lots of fresh air in with fun rooftop views (and a bit of the sea). Bed was very comfortable, water pressure in the shower was great. Balcony was a great spot to sit in the sun. Washer was handy (no dryer). We loved Split- so much amazing history, great food, warm people!

The stairs to get to the apartment are not for the faint of heart! Wooden and winding and up several flights. Finding your way around the Palace was a challenge, and GPS was useless inside. It would have been nice to have a few provisions for the first morning- coffee creamer, etc as most stores were closed on Sunday (we arrived Saturday night).

The location was convenient to desirable tourist attractions. The hosts were most helpful and gracious. We would have had great difficulty managing our luggage and parking without their help. The apartment was charming with a great balcony and views.

The location was a bit strange. While it was certainly in the "heart of the palace", I didn't quite know what that would mean. Walking empty, narrow, walkways thru ruins was certainly unique but we always felt safe. Rarely saw any other people in the immediate area. Next time I would consider the Old Town or just outside either.

Stunning location exactly where you would want to be. Great views. Lots of room in the apartment and the balcony is a sun trap. Easy walk to all the old town areas, the port, restaurants and transport links.

Struggling to think of anything.

We were met by the hosts. The cool thing is that the apartment is actually part of the city wall built by Diocletian. You walk through the palace grounds to enter and exit the apartment. The apartment is on a third floor but the hosts are helpful in wrangling luggage at the beginning and end of the stay. They were unfailingly kind and helpful.

Be aware that the apartment has a fifty liter tank due to energy restrictions in the Old City which means quick but doable showers.

Everything was great

Fabulous views from terrace and windows. Excellent location inside Palace walls. Large and clean authentic apartment with historical touches - after staying in some studios in other locations we were very grateful to be able to spread out a bit. We did the TI walking tour and it was excellent. Enjoyed a walk up the forested hill to the top. We were tired of eating at restaurants after 6 weeks of traveling so we ate in 2 nights and had everything we needed (a dishwasher would be nice but we managed fine without it). Very helpful hosts - Vlado with luggage and recommendations and Magda arranging a car to the airport and more recommendations. A wonderful stay to finish off our 6 week Europe trip!

Nothing! One tiny detail - we couldn’t find a plug for the kitchen sink

Fantastic location, beautiful views. We were met by host, who directed us to a parking spot and helped with our luggage to the fabulous apartment. Everything was our doorstep. We will definitely return to Split and this apartment .
