Balcony Apartment Malasaña

Honestly what a wonderful little place. Has everything f you need. Was incredibly clean and they had nice little touches such as the welcome candy. The communication was incredible and the process to check in was easier than I thought it would be. They keep the keys in a public storage place a block away. You enter the code and the locker spits the key out. Very easy. Malasaña is one of the more eclectic neighborhoods filled with artists and many other creatives. If you like a nice high energy area you will love it there. Also nice bonus is the balcony overseeing the city.

The location of the apartment is genial, many touristic attractions accessible by foot. At the same time it is located in a small and rather quiet street. There are plenty nice restaurants in the area. Easy access to metro. The area is safe. You have to get the keys at a luggage locker two blocks from the hotel. The host sends you the passwords to get into the luggage locker and from the cell, where the keys are. The room is nicely furnished and equipped with almost everything to feel like at home.

The street door located right under the apartment and it is quite loud... somehow it didn't bother us much, probably people respect the neighbors and don't bang the door at night. The warm water is probably supplied via storage water heater, we defined it experimentally, that the amount ist enough for 1,5 showers :)

If it wasn't for one issue (described below), it would be very easy for me to give this unit a 10/10 10/10 for location 10/10 for the unit - small but everything you need 10/10 for silence - once the windows are closed 10/10 host - very responsive and friendly! For all the above I highly recommend this place.

We had one little problem that became a huge problem - the very small apartment had these 4 air freshener devices. As soon as we walked in the smell was very overpowering. We quickly put the devices outside on the balcony and aired out the unit - we thought this would air out and be no problem. However, the overpowering perfume did not go away at all (even after two days)... We kept the windows open day and night to get a little fresh air, but with the windows open and the great central location you cannot sleep as this neighbourhood is awake 24hrs. I developed an uncomfortable allergic reaction sadly. So if you like perfume - this place is truly perfect 10/10 - honestly! But just be aware - if you are sensitive, allergic, have asthma, are auto-immune, or are health conscious then I have to say to not go here unless the host removes these smell-emitting items... No review in the past mentions this problem, so maybe the host tried to mask something (like a smoker visiting) and we just got very unlucky this time...

Very small bed for a double

The apartment is located practically in the very center of Madrid. We had everything we needed for our stay on site. The apartment is very clean and well-kept, it was a pleasure to stay there. Communication with the owner was very efficient and friendly. There are many shops and restaurants next to the apartment and the main tourist attractions are within walking distance.

Due to the location, it is very noisy at night, so if you like to have your balcony open (like us), you won't sleep well. The windows themselves are soundproof, so if you close them there is no noise. The bed was too soft - but this is an individual matter.

The location was great, right in the heart of things so Saturday night was noisy but the double glazing did a great job. Close to everything you'd want to see in the centre of Madrid. Communication was great and instructions were clear.

My wife had trouble with the pillows as they were not suitable for tummy sleepers apparently (I thought they were fine but I don't sleep that way). There were no alternatives.
