Vita Portucale ! Downtown Premium Apartment with Parking Garage

Great location, close to all the mandatory sights and places.

The first night we found 3 coackroaches in the coffee machine than on the other nights they randomly appeared on the kitchen cabinet, and from the crack in the wall. It was disgusting and a nightmare. We couldn’t wait to get out. I told our host about the situation, he geunienly said sorry and called immediately, and promised to send a cleanup crew. He disappeared after I sent a message whether they could do anything… It was a shame as they made a good first impression. We were so uncomfortable and disgusted but we already payed a fairly high price for this stayed. No one cared or bothered to do something about this. Also there is a constant junky group hanging out under the window with continuous noise and shouting until 3 am every night… One of my worst experience abroad.

for 420€/3 nights, we got only 1 small and 1 medium towel, one and half toilet paper role. the apartment is in shady neighborhood, for two girls didn’t feel safe to go out after dark. some appliances in the kitchen should be changed to newer (microwave).

Parking garage was very convenient. There's enough space in the apartment for 3-4 people. It's located very centrally. The contact person helped us with finding a restaurant.

It could definitely use some upgrading to keep it in good shape. Finding the apartment within the building was tricky. They should give better instructions on where to enter and how to get to the garage inside.

The location was very good. It is next to public transport or you can walk to many of the downtown touristy places. The apartment was very clean. It was bright and comfortable. Also, the person helping us to check in was very nice and helpful. The bed was comfortable. Also, it was very helpful to have parking

The location also had drawbacks. There were people sitting outside of the apartment in the stairs outside, making it noisy and not as private. The apartment needed a little maintenance. It didn't look as new or fresh as in the pictures.

airconditioning - it is strange that in such a new building there is no ventilation and no AC mouted. there is only one portable AC device.

The apartment was a good size with separate bedroom & good built in wardrobe. Kitchen was roomy with sufficient storage & large dishwasher. The location was an easy walk to Rossio, Praca da Figueira & Praca do Comercio. Buses & trams were also nearby. The basement garage was good with our car spot close to the elevator.

The photos on Booking.com did not truly reflect the following; old, worn sofa, mould in the shower, leaking bathroom sink tap, dirty skirting boards( particularly outside bathroom), grubby kitchen floor, scuffed walls & architraves, damaged bathroom door at bottom. Further to that there was no welcome pack, not one dishwasher tablet, barely enough dishwashing liquid for our 6 day stay, an old worn scourer that was disgusting ( we replaced it with a new one) barely enough hand wash in the bathroom for our stay, a bad odour emanating from the bathroom( must keep the door open to help ventilate the room), the mobile air conditioner was useless; it was not vented so as much hot air blew from the rear of the machine as cold air from the front thereby rendering it useless. Therefore it was stifling in the apartment. We relied on opening all windows & prayed for a cool breeze. Only one wine glass!! The building access code from the street didn’t work for 2 days towards the end of our stay so we needed to access our 4th floor apartment from the basement. We couldn’t wait to leave. I doubt the owner has inspected this unit in years.

If it wouldnt be for the nice guy who helped us with the Check-In, I would literally give not more than 2 stars! 1 for the Garage and 1 for the size of the apartment, other than that it was out of my 49! bookings with booking.com my second worste experience!! The AC did not work, I told them the first day... they did not want to fix it/ say they are busy, the second day and the rest of the week they ignored my text. Edit: once I left they told me it was hard to find parts to fix it. Its a plastic pipe, nothing special. Other than that it was super loud outside every night, so we slept extremly bad. Outside there must be the dealers hotspot of Lisbon. Everytime we went out or came back they harassed us and asked us if we want to buy drugs (not their fault, but as a side-note). The sofa, bed etc. seen better days and all the sinks were clogged. I usually am happy with very little/always try to see the positive and givr great ratings, but with that stay it was unfortunatley not possible. I hope other travelers have more luck than us at this apartment!
