LAVENDER COTTAGE

Lovely, friendly hosts and amazing views and local wildlife, nice and quiet yet conveniently located just off the main road to Whitby and very close to Robin Hoods Bay.

The cottage is in an amazing location. Beautiful views over Whitby and of the abbey. It is surrounded by wild flower fields with the added bonus of a deer or hare to spot. Sunsets were particularly special. The cottage is very well presented with good attention to detail in the furnishings. It had everything needed for a comfortable stay. We stayed during a very hot weekend but the stone cottage was always cool. Nothing was too much trouble for the hosts - from a parasol to advice on activities and places to eat. I can’t recommend this accommodation enough.

Booked this property for my parents to go away for a couple of nights, they absolutely loved it, very friendly and welcoming. 10/10 they will be coming back.

The location is perfect its not far from Robin hood bay and whitby Abbey with supermarkets just 15mins away.

All basic amenities suitable, including kitchen essentials.. Owner was accommodating. Clean premises. Private back yard. Option to take pets. Good views to the rear. Plenty of toilet paper and towels.

Unfortunately, we arrived in dense fog. Causing numerous attempts to locate the property. Problem being inadequate signage of the location. Owner stated look for a green sign! Apart from the information shared look out for the 3 words (we did not have) the directions still caused problems. The sign was a plaque screwed to a wall, and not adequate. We suggested for this to be placed as a suspended sign. Owner said (after debate) 'we will think about it! ' Plus the driveway was in-between two large old barns, hindering the driver. The atmosphere was rustic, could have been made more effective regards to kitchen layout. The numerous good gesture plaques were slightly too much and the decor very miss matched such as, plastic bonsai, peace pipe and other oddments which have no relation to where we were i.e. promote the countryside and culture of the setting. It was mentioned the downstairs hot water tap to the toilet wash basin was totally broken. Once more the owner said 'i know about it, will get it done one day'. Heating: all electric. I x radiator to wall working however, the other two rads. Were not working and we learned they were controlled by his side of the premises (adjoining the cottage). Day 2 when owner tried to work one radiator and later learned in our departure it was set on 8 degrees. We informed the owner we had not tampered with any settings. The added blankets did come in handy. The t.v. options were restricted due to the owners wife stating she would not share the code for the additional channels. He later explained with apologies, sorry for this, but my wife is slightly autistic. The door key had a smiley face keyring and even this fell off. With all respect, we did have a lovely time and did have a laugh and wish to share we would return, hopefully with hot water tap and heating in tact. Kind regards and thank you.

Beautiful location very clean and welcoming

It felt like home from home,staff was really friendly & welcoming when we arrived. The views were exceptional,peaceful & calming. Would definitely recommend for a short or a long break from everyday hustle & bustle of everyday life. Great for families too our kids enjoyed every minute & you're not far from any of the site seeing too.

We loved Lavender Cottage ! The location was fabulous too and we would definitely stay here again.

The cottage was very cosy, well heated, comfy seating area. Kitchen was well equipped with everything that we needed. Bedrooms/bathrooms were perfect. Host was really communicative and even went out of their way to phone to let us know there was a diversion due to roadworks.
