Private Pool Apt. with Great View

Mooi gedecoreerd huisje met volledig ingerichte keuken, woonkamer en aparte slaapkamer. Prachtig aangelegde en goed onderhouden tuin met privé zwembad. Alles erg comfortabel en rustig. Host Helena en Martim geven je een zeer warm welkom. Martim geeft allerlei informatie over restaurants en excursies die te boeken zijn en is super aardig. Mini supermarkt en bakker zijn op 5 minuten loopafstand. Ook Funchal en goede restaurants zijn te belopen in 15 minuten. Houd wel rekening met 10 minuten stijging of daling maar dat is voor Funchal niet veel. Ontbijt is optioneel te boeken via een externe partij en wordt dan aan de poort bezorgd. Algemeen terras in bijgebouw (met nog 4 appartementen) biedt practig uitzicht op haven en Funchal.

The communication with the host was excellent. He had lots of useful information and helped book trips.

It was a quiet location which was good and only a short downhill walk into the centre but coming back was all uphill - something to be aware of. There are plenty of taxis to help out!

Prachtige locatie, fantastische tuin!

Ein Appartement in einer betagten, romantischen Quinta, sehr liebevoll eingerichtet weit ab des Tourismus der moderneren Hotels.com und der Kreuzfahrschiffe, die täglich kommen. Man schließt das Tor hinter sich und landet in einer absoluten Wohlfühloase! Der riesige Garten mit den Pools, die zwar im März noch etwas kühl sind, laden zur Entspannung ein. Wer nicht so gut zu Fuß ist, nimmt sich besser ein Auto. Parkplatz ist vorhanden. Der Urlaub war auch wegen der Hilfsbereitschaft der Inhaber einfach ein Traum!!!

The Quinta was located in quiet and safe residential area near Funchal old town. The building was full of charm and character, set in beautifully kept gardens with lovely views across Funchal and the sea. The hosts were very helpful and friendly.

Can’t think of anything I didn’t like.

Grand appartement dans un ancien hôtel du XIXème siècle en cours de réaménagement. Très beau et très grand jardin avec une grande piscine commune. Accès à la terrasse située au deuxième étage du bâtiment avec une vue spectaculaire sur la baie de Funchal. Nous étions là en hiver, ce qui nous a empêché de profiter de la petite piscine privée et de la petite terrasse devant l’appartement. Contact facile avec le gérant très sympathique de cet hébergement d'exception. Parking public avec toujours de la place et arrêt de bus devant la maison. L'accès au centre ville est facile à pieds (en descente) ou en bus (31). La remontée à pieds est plus difficile (mieux vaut prendre le bus!)

La cuisine est un peu petite. Une partie de l'équipement de l'appartement doit être "rajeunie": la climatisation ne marchait pas (elle a été réparée suite à nos remarques). Les prises de courant sur le côté du frigidaire doivent être remplacées. Le ballon d'eau chaude est vieux (fuite) et trop petit pour deux personnes.

We had a great stay and loved the traditional feel of the property. Gorgeous view from the rooftop terrace, close to the old town on foot (took us around 10 minutes) & plenty of parking outside if you're renting a car. It is a bit of a steep walk back from the centre, but this is Madeira!! The staff were helpful and friendly. The apartment is well equipped with cooking utensils, cleaning products etc if you chose to have any meals in, also a nice bakery close by. We only used the private pool a couple of times as we had a busy itinerary & the weather wasn't always on our side, but it was lovely to have access to both pools. We loved our holiday & fell in love with Madeira, would recommend this property!

Minor points really but the garden furniture was ripped, noticed this on previous reviews, could easily be replaced to make it look nicer. Extra charges for clean bath towels & cleaning of the property which we've never experienced previously. Also we had noticed ants not long after arriving, mostly in the kitchen, with the Madeira climate and the property being very old we understood why, but it gave us a bit of a shock initially. The owners provided us with ant repellent spray which helped keep them at bay for the rest of the stay. They also provide mosquito spray. Overall though we really enjoyed it. Thanks for a lovely stay.
