My House Ahangama

We paid 16€ for a small shed so the price of 8€pp was really good. The owners are kind and you’re close to some good restaurants.

It’s described as a family room with garden view etc but really it’s just a shed with no real walls. Sleeping in this cold warm shed was really uncomfortable. I didn’t feel like the room was as it was described.

The location is beautiful and the family is super super super warm and friendly <3. It’s also very close to the beach and a great place to relax and get out of the crowds from town.

tbe owners must be the nicest people on the island. the rooms are basic and beautifully located in the jungle plus the food is so good! I'll be back.

WiFi was bad, so if you have to work make sure you have mobile data.

The family are just amazing that run the place, and their home cooked for was sooooo good best prawns iv ever had

It rained during our stay which, to give the benefit of the doubt impacted our stay. To be honest we’ve stayed in shacks and been backpacking around India and srilanka for 4 months on a tight budget and this was the worst place we stayed in. I have no idea how they have such good reviews. We weren’t offered any food during our stay (which is talked a lot about on the reviews). Unsure if we just got a bad room but we did get to choose from 3, we thought it was the best of the three and it was BAD.

The pillows were mouldy and the white sheets had yellow stains over them. The mosquito net was covered in holes. The day we checked in I requested to shorten our stay, mainly as we actually wanted to move onto another town (also requested via booking.com). They rejected and ignored me even when I asked in person. We were very courteous during our stay and the owners were very nice and helped when we had issues (with the door not locking (they first tried to tell us it didn’t matter) and a 3ft lizard inside the room. The ceiling outside was held up by cardboard, was leaking and gone mouldy by the time we left. The bathroom wasn’t clean when we arrived and the ceiling in bathroom was clear plastic and kept caving in due to rain. Ants covered the room and bathroom (when we arrived). Water stopped multiple times so I had to wash with a bottled water. Internet and electricity was also a problem but I appreciate this is beyond thier control. There are little photos online (I now know why) and unfortunately I only took a video, which I can’t upload.

The hosts were super friendly! We loved our stay in the middle of nature, an unique experience :)

Family run bungalows in a fantastic location - quite basic rooms and facilities but run by the nicest family you could imagine. Always helpful, always cheerful, food was INCREDIBLE and the location was amazing. Will definitely be coming back

So, we love bungalows and since we arrived in Sri Lanka, we only stated in family homes. When we found this location (very good rating) on Booking, we were very excited because this is what we wanted. When we arrived, we felt like in heaven because the garden is simply a jungle ; full off birds and nice plants. The family was very welcoming & the wife (greetings to you ❤️) is a great cook!!! The bungalow where we were staying was a normal tiny house, where the bathroom is outside. Although the house is simple and very cute / clean ; the bathroom, wich was outside, looked pretty vintage ; because we stayed there for 4 days, we acutally cleaned up ourselves because we were with a child. I think it's an important notice that needs to solved; but I'm sure they will take care of it; the family is very supportive and nice. We also did laundry (10\10) and we had 2 dinners and the fish was simply amazing. The place is quiet/ because of that I would totally reccomend. 🫶🏽 Greetings, Astrid.

perfect simple place for people who want an easy stay. My wooden cabine was so cool. Secret beach is just 100m from the house and its beautiful.
