Le Tre Campane Ortigia

1) The huge terrace overlooking the church with the beautiful sea view. 2) A lift even old is still gold in such old buildings to avoid climbing 4-5 stairs with suitcases. 3) The nice neighborhood, close to the main attractions, shops and restaurants of Ortigia (although requiring 20-30 min walk to the main train or bus stations (which are located in the city center of Siracusa).

1) Lack of hangers in the bathrooms. 2) The quite high rental price may be explained by the huge sizes of the terrace and of the living room but they are of limited usefulness for a couple. The owner should adjust better the price accordingly to the number of occupants or a voucher for a breakfast should be offered at least.

Fabrizio is an excellent and sympathetic host, always quick to communicate. He was very helpful and accommodating to me in a difficult situation that involved me checking out VERY late. I probably inconvenienced him a lot though he said not a word in complaint. Now, the apartment is lovely: very comfortable, spacious, and very well fitted out. It has a fabulous terrace with great views - you can even see Etna on a good day. There are great sea-views and a charming old church directly in front, hence Le Tre Campane - though only two bells remain! The location could not be better for a visit to Ortigia. Don't forget to check what's on at the theatre on the ground floor of the building! I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this flat and would love to return.

Spacious, modern apartment in the centre of Ortigia

Beautiful newly renovated apartment with modern amenities. Incredible terrace with lovely views of the water and the surrounding city. There's a small elevator to help with luggage since the apartment was on the 5th floor. Fabrizio was a wonderfully kind and caring host.

Would have liked extra kitchen towels or a small roll of paper towels to use in the kitchen.

The location was excellent, in the heart of Ortigia's beautiful and walkable historic center but on a quieter side street. The view and terrace were spectacular, the bed was very comfortable and the apartment was very quiet and clean. The hosts provided a bottle of local beer and some Sicilian soft drinks and very kindly took us to the local food market, introduced us to their fish seller and made sure we got some amazingly fresh calamari. They even gave us suggestions how to cook them and provided great restaurant and sightseeing recommendations.

Kitchen was not quite as usable as we hoped, especially being that we really wanted to do some cooking. The fridge was a half sized bar fridge and unfortunately froze some of our vegetables.

More is not possible, especially if you like the modern style. Fantastic view, quiet even though it is absolutely central. Everything you need is there.

Stunning apartment with fabulous views. The attention to detail with the spec was second to none - lovely bathroom, kitchen, bed, towels etc. Nespresso machine with lots of capsules/sugar/tea. The Ortigia toiletries were a lovely touch - the shop is 5 mins away on Via Roma - my credit card thanked me :). The location is excellent - everything within an easy stroll - and so many fabulous places to eat in the vicinity. We loved Anchovies and the Locandiera di Palazzo Bellamo. Nice wine bar on the ground floor too. Fabrizio was fabulous. We messaged him as we left the airport, and he was there to meet up with the keys. He sent some great links for food etc and organised our taxi to the station when we left. Amazing terrace with loungers and a gorgeous view to the sea.

Much as I hate to say anything negative as we loved the place, the terrace (which is huge) is really missing a dining table and chairs. The lounge chairs are lovely but not really practical for drinking a coffee in the morning, or eating outside.

My husband and I stayed here (at the apartment looking out into the rooftops and the sea beyond) for a week, and by the end of it, were convinced we couldn’t have picked a dreamier view in Ortigia. The reality is better than the photos. The flat is impeccable and the location, excellent. The balcony is extraordinary.

The facade of the building is utilitarian and not charming at all. But it’s located in a lovely piazza, and the penthouse apartment is fantastic.
