Luxury 2BDR in the Heart of Valletta! TV and WiFi

The position was excellent and the staff was really kind. The apartment was perfect for a family and easy to get there from the Bus station nearby the Triton fountain.

In the kitchen at the ground floor there was a smell of humidity.

The location was great, easy to get to all the main sites of Valetta on foot. We had some problems with our initial contact with the host to get the key code for entering the property but once we had his whatsapp contact, he was responsive and gave us some helpful information.

Sadly this is not a luxury property. The key issues which we communicated in more detail to the host in advance of writing this and for which he has said he will take action are: 1) the smell of damp and bad drains is extremely strong, particularly in the kitchen and living room. This makes it very unpleasant to be in the house and to eat there. We accept that it is an old property and that dehumidifiers and a fan are provided. 2) Many of the light fittings were not working when we stayed. In one bedroom there was just the bedside light in a fairly dark room making it impossible to see much. The electrics generally seemed worryingly unreliable with flashes from the sockets when appliances were plugged in and out and flickering of the lamps. 3) The photos of the house make it look very smart and there are nice pieces of furniture but in reality the empty picture frames on the wall are bent by the damp, there are holes in the wall where appliances have fallen off and in the case of the living room the appliance has just been left on the floor, the walls are scuffed and there is mould in the shower corners, a rattling balcony window, noisy fan in the basement and a pile of mouldy cloths in the kitchen cupboard. 4) There were no instructions in the house on basic things like rubbish and recycling, operating the equipment, nowhere to drain washed dishes and no drying up cloth provided. We stayed in three different locations on Malta and Gozo and this was to have been a bit of luxury for our last two of days but it was seriously disappointing. I have stayed in lots of properties and have never had cause to complain before and don't want to damage someone's business, I also know that there are very favourable reviews but this fell so far below expectations that I felt it necessary to give our views. I hope that the action promised does take place as it is in a great location and Valetta is a lovely place to visit
