Merchants Rise

The location and character of the old building was fantastic. Very quiet and provided all the facilities we required.

The three lifts of spiral / ship like stairs were hard work in terms of moving our luggage in, but once in they were generally ok provided you took your time and held onto the rails.

Merchants Rise is an apartment in an old Grade 1 listed building. It is quirky blending old with new, but spacious comfortable and clean and whilst we didn't cook while we were there it had all necessary equipment and appliances. It is in a great central location with just a short walk to all the restaurants, shops and boat trips. Having private parking in a separate garage nearby was a real benefit. Communication with the host on the day of arrival was good.

The only thing that might be a slight issue for others, but not a problem for us, were the narrow, steep, winding stairs - three flights from the entrance to the top bedroom, but is is an old building so understandable. There are handrails on each flight to assist with going up and down.

Fully equipped kitchen with nice touches, such as dishwasher tablets, etc. Nicely furnished also.

Stairs are a little awkward, but no other issues

Great location and a well designed apartment. Super comfy bed and good quality furnishings. Well equipped with everything we needed. Highly recommend.

Location of the property was ideal - in the centre of town - so everything was really accessible. The apartment was very clean and comfortable. Parking was just around the corner

The stairs were fine for us - but would have been awkward for a more elderly person perhaps. The seagulls were noisy - but thats not a fault of the place!! After a couple of days - we kind of got used to hearing them

Beautiful apartment right in the center of Dartmouth, so within walking distance of everything in the town. The place felt really homely. Lovely spacious double room on the top floor. The kitchen had everything you need if you want to cook for yourself. Parking was convenient and close by. Will stay here again when we next visit Dartmouth.

Would have like to have been informed about the three flights of spiral Stairs as I am 8 weeks post knee surgery. A few attention to details would be amazing Fix the broken blind In First floor Loo Lean cobwebs from dining room windows Fix non- closing bedroom blind in bunk room. Provide a hairdryer Touch up Paintwork especially in top Floor bathroom around the loo and sink

Amazing tucked away central location perfect for exploring Dartmouth on foot. Really quirky old house with relaxed, stylish decor and well appointed kitchen and bathrooms.
