The West Bow View Apartment

The location to the grassmarket, the castle and other tourist locations were close to ideal. Everything was within walking distance, in fact (according to Google maps) the busses would have taken longer then walking to every destination we went to. There was a nice view of Grassmarket and Victoroa St. As well.

The apartment was on the 4th floor, of which required walking up 64 steps every time you wished to go to the room (no elevator in the building). Bringing the luggage up was hell and the groceries weren't much better. The room needed some TLC, everything you looked at seemed to have the landlord special. Stained carpet. Stained paint. Poor caulking. Uneven flooring. Pieced-together bathroom, etc. Altogether, it was just a dirty room. I didn't even feel comfortable sleeping in the bed. The photos online made me expect a luxury room but I was surprised about the poor quality when we arrived.

It was a very complete apartment, like it very much, liked the mirrors, the decoration, very light full.

The pans were dirty when l went to cook. To noise the location, but very central, next to everything. The mattress was too soft. Couldn't switch to Netflix on the TV. There could be some handles in the bathtub to get up, not to hold from the taps.

Nothing! Only there were lots of steps to the apartment (I think people should be aware).

No breakfast jncluded. Location was fantsstic, so central.

Some noise from late night music in Lawnmarket, double glazing on windows would have helped

Great location in the old town, very central. The apartment was very comfortable and cozy, quite well equipped. We hear the street noises but it can be expected with such a central location and nothing a good pair of earplugs can’t beat.

Make sure to ALWAYS have the keys when leaving, because if you need any assistance at any point, you will not get it. We forgot the keys once and contacted them around 10:30pm, not solution was provided until 9:30am and we had to sleep in a hotel nearby. Also the shower could be improved, very low pressure and not that convenient.

Great location

Amenities in very poor condition. Couch is unusable & needs to be replaced, Filthy carpet in lounge room, cushions on the couch smelled, dirt under bed from previous guests, bed head not fully attached to the wall, electric shower on/off switch broken, steel bin lid in kitchen broken, kettle is filthy inside. Double bed is smaller than a standard double bed - hardly enough room for 2. Dirt & rubbish piled up outside the front door to the apartment probably from the neighbours. Really disappointed in the quality considering the money spent & felt the advertising photos weren’t an accurate representation of the current condition.

I have been on Booking since 2016 and never wrote a bad review. This place ruined our weekend as the noise was overwhelming for the whole two nights. To pay more than 200£ a night for a place with windows as thick as paper is a joke. It felt like people were chatting and yelling in our bedroom, cars were driving as if they were there. Impossible to sleep. We sent videos showing how crazy the situation was and all the management of the property could say was that it was to be expected during festive seasons. To me that's an explanation to an existing problem, not a solution for future customers. So yes, if you plan on staying here: do expect the worst night of your life thanks to the festive seasons coming all along the year. And that will be 210£, please and thank you.

Excellent location, great view from the flat

No heating in the living room despite telling them the radiator doesn't work and they said they'd do something about it but never did. Uncomfortably small bed. It is a small double bed don't let them fool you. Uncomfortable, bumpy, sofa. The shower they request to be set at 'medium' is a literal dribble of water to shower with. Thank god they had the bathtub but it was very inconvenient for a shower. Worst of all, single glazed windows that let the draft in. Freezing cold.
