JOIVY Lovely Flat in the Heart of Edinburgh

It was clean. It looked nice.

No laundry on site, as booking had suggested. Based along the steps of the castle, and we stayed during the Tatoo- which meant people were in the steps all night and the street was closed and wall to wall people. Also, the beds were not comfortable.

Location is amazing. Flat size is good for a family of 4 Windows are pretty near to the stairs but noise did not disturb us we were to tired for after all day walking. Tatto march pass everyday infront of the apartment Coffe machine

Could be better clean Just two toilet pappers rolls, come on its cheap, time where papper roll was gold has passed away. Double bed could be bigger Miss some courtains, to keep some privacy while keeping light entering the rooms. I miss some double glass for noise insulation. Found it expensive but we know it in advance. Good for a short stance maybe not as good for long one. We stay 4 night and was perfect for us.

Close to Royal Mile, accessible to many amenities but very noisy at the night time

1) Provided 1.5 rolls of very thin toilet paper for a 4 people family for 6 days. When I asked for toilet paper to the host, they charge me £10 for a roll (ridiculous and cheating); 2) The host request you to clean every dish, plate and toilet (host said this is extra service I have to pay for cleaning). It makes us feeling uneasy pressure during the holiday; 3) The place is literally situated at first floor, but a public staircase next to the accommodation leading up to Edinburg Castle makes it no difference as if staying at ground floor next to the public road. That means public people are continually watching straight (1 meter distance) your activities in living area, bedrooms, everywhere at the house. Such is not disclosed in the description of this accommodation in booking.com., I think the host should state clearly on it. The windows are too worn out and could not be perfectly shut, which gives you even worse on the insecure sense in particular during the night time people are drunk and speaking now in the staircase. We do not recommend family with children to stay there, otherwise your children will be awake all time

The location was amazing!! Very close to a lot of the big sightseeing attractions. Check in and out was also very easy.

It was a bit rundown and not the cleanest place we’ve ever stayed. There were a couple of broken chairs, poor Wi-Fi, dust and dirt a lot of places, and stains.

The location is great (sort of). The apartment is in excellent condition and very pleasant.

While the apartment is in a good location the windows look out over steps that lead straight up to the castle. So there are people all day going past and you have to keep the shutters closed for privacy. During the summer stands for 25,000 people are built in the castle car park and they hold summer rock concerts, the Edinburgh Tattoo and other events. You can hear everything. Great if you want a free concert. Bad if you want to go to bed before 11pm. It also makes it hard to get back to the apartment if you don’t return before the roads get locked down by security. There is also a significant flight of stairs to get to the property so not suited for strollers or wheelchairs.

location was great, was nice having the extra space for 4 people, view out of the kitchen window of the castle was beautiful

black mold in the shower, very hard beds, and key was not in lock box when we arrived like it was supposed to be…..we tried to call the office several times and never got an answer….finally could see that someone was inside cleaning….she was nice enough to let us leave our bags there while she was still finishing up but said she was not informed that someone was checking in that day

Great location, beds were comfortable, loved all the natural light.

it’s right next to the steps that go up to the castle, I had quite a few people coming down at night making noise. Wouldn’t advise staying there on a Friday or Saturday night. Lots of partying and noisy.

Loved the convenience of location and absolutely loved looking at the castle while drinking our morning tea!

There was a musty smell initially but after a bit we didn't notice it anymore.
