Studios Sampa - Parque Augusta

The location is in theory perfect, specially for nightlife - it's right in between Rua Augusta, the historic center, and bohemian Vila Buarque. The building is right next to a lively park (Augusta), which is busy and beautiful on sunny days. The view from the rooftop is amazing, the room was fairly modern and comfortable for the price, and the reception guys were very kind.

It breaks my heart to say because I used to hang around a lot in this area at night. However, at the moment it felt very unsafe and stressful. People nearby (at bars, bakery.. ) kept telling me all the time me to watch out for pickpockets and some sort of gang on bicycles. Some Uber drivers told me they felt unsafe even to drop me around there (but ok. that's probably too paranoid of them..). I did not experience (big) issues myself, and I know this is not in the property's control, but I feel responsible to at least advice visitors unfamiliar with SP that this a particular spot in the city which unfortunately requires additional attention with your safety at the moment when walking around (specially at night). I truly hope it improves soon.
