Stunning location in a beautiful part of the country. 360 views around the property and can escape into nature just by walking out your front door. Definitely the spot for a quiet, contemplative, nature-immersed getaway. The hosts also upgraded our room free of charge! Relaxed place. Nothing fancy, but superb if you're just looking for a down to earth place to spend a weekend. Lots of hiking nearby. The wooden huts do get quite cold, though, so I would recommend hiring one of the heaters in Winter!

The location is stunning, and the peace and quiet were just what we were looking for.

We'd have liked the braai area to be more integrated with the chalet. It's not really designed to sit around and chat while cooking.

The cabins were spacious and not very close to each other. They had nice views of the lake. The only employee on the property was doing his best to help despite the situation.

No electricity on the property, even though the electricity had been cut off a day prior, we received zero communication from the host about this. No signal or internet so we couldn’t even see if there were other available accommodations. It’s 40 minutes drive away from the centre and nothing in the area. The closest restaurant is 15 mins drive away to another resort. No candles or heaters provided in the cabin for the inconvenience due to our phones batteries being low we couldn’t use them much either. Also, the front door didn’t lock with the keys provided. There was no one else on the property besides 1 employee. And the hosts refuse a refund. Worst service and worse experience. I wish I could rate it a 0 because 1 star is already too much.

Beautiful views, peaceful during the day, clean utensils and bedding, easy check-in.

The first thing we noticed when we walked in was a strong smell of curry followed by how tatty the interior was. It is past the tlc stage and in need of a full refurbishment. The wiring looked terrible, fastened to the wall with a random piece of jaggedy metal with the satellite box hanging by it's own cables from the TV, other wires taped up with insulation tape, one looked quite dangerous. The bathroom door couldn't be closed so no privacy and the bedroom door handle was missing, only a back plate held on with one screw instead of four. The shower was black with mould, as was the kitchen sink. We dare not open the bedroom window as the glass looked like it was about to fall out of the frame, the settee was very uncomfortable and the lighting was like being sat in a waiting room. The bedroom wardrobe door handle was missing exposing a long sharp screw sticking out for anyone walking past to rip their arm open on, very dangerous. We were supposed to stay two nights but it was so uncomfortable and potentially dangerous we left after one. There has obviously been no maintenance carried out on lodge 12 for a long time and it doesn't get like that overnight!! I know the accommodation was cheaply priced but we have been travelling South Africa for three weeks, stopping in many accommodations and have experienced nothing close to this, all have been of high standard, even at similar price points. This is just not acceptable in 2026, people work hard for their money and deserve better. On leaving we were offered a alternative unit, which we declined, we just wanted away, I brought up the issue of a refund which was declined. Left very disappointed with this rare experience.
