Le Cabanon

The location is amazing just 1 min from the beach, the apartment has everything we needed, the staff was super nice and helpful, we would definitely go back again.

- close to the beach and restaurants - good communication with the staff - daily cleaning service

- we booked the smallest room (studio) and this room didn‘t look like on the pictures (especially the outdoor bathroom) - the room itself was quite dark - all in all we felt (also compared to other places we were in Sri Lanka and even in Hiri) the price for the room was too expensive (in comparison for what you get)

Location of the place is very nice, 2 min walk from the wonderful beach of Hiriketiya. It’s not to just in front of the door amidst all the green. Host Lisa-Marie is really wonderful and has great recommendations.

We stayed in the smallest room, which we knew, but did feel slightly small and dark (just one small window). Then again, you are hardly in the room and the bathroom is nice and spacious (outside).

It's an attractive house very close to the beach but away from some of the busier spots. The host is very friendly and greeted us with an ice tea and some recommendations. He was also responsive to our messages. Towels, beach towels, and some high quality toiletries were provided.

We stayed in the larger downstairs room and it was quite musty/damp feeling with no ventilation. Obviously you're also coming back from the beach which doesn't help and the bathroom drainage was very poor so it was always covered with water. I'm not sure if the windows really opened but you can't really leave the doors open due to mosquitos. Additionally you could only turn on/off the A/C by climbing up to the switch by the ceiling and the remote control didn't work so it was only full on (too cold) or fully off (too hot). The hot water was not at all intuitive so we ended up having cold showers the first night - when we messaged the host he was very responsive to coming and showing us how you do it (there's a valve that just looks like a black square that needs to be turned) but it's really the kind of thing that should have a sign or information in a welcome pack. Our friends stayed in the room upstairs which I think was better but for the high price (for Sri Lanka) I would have expected a higher quality experience.

Very disappointed with the price !!! We booked by looking at the photographs and thought we would get another appartment than the one we got. 100$ per night in a brand new appartment but with a disfunctioning toilet, no AC, no hot water, and unbreathable wet smell. It's ok to have all this in Sri Lanka, but certainly not at this price. This is robbery in comparison with any other place we stayed in. Seems that prices are disconnected from reality on this beach now, and Le Cabanon is leading the way. We made clear to the host that we were not happy with the facility, and he offered us vouchers for the next time ... What a nice commercial gesture ... a joke
