Amazing location, lovely decor, cool in very hot conditions. Lovely outside terraces. Very relaxing environment.

Perhaps the kitchen isn’t the best for cooking own meals - but if planing to eat out then this isn’t a problem of course.

"Stylish accomodation in heart of Ortigia"

Very stylish appartment in the heart of Ortigia with two roof terraces. We loved the interior decoration, the layout, the location and the roof terrace. Plenty of space to accommodate 6 people.

One of the bedrooms has a sofabed which is not ideal for two adults. There are some minor issues such as a sliding door to a bathroom that wouldn’t close properly, an airconditioning unit that didn’t work (not a big issue at the end of April though).

"Un bel appartement, presque conforme aux photos"

L'appartement est original, spacieux, agréable à vivre et très bien situé.

Un nettoyage du linge de lit (oreillers, couettes, alèses...) serait nécessaire. Ainsi que des fauteuils, coussins et du sol. La plomberie des deux salles de bains du bas pourrait être révisée. Une seule poêle à disposition qui devrait être remplacée (mais cela peut s'expliquer par la demande de ne pas cuisiner de viande, ni de poisson). Un seul torchon pour tout le séjour. Pas de petits matelas sur les terrasses contrairement à ce que montrent les photos mais du matériel de ménage visuellement inesthétique. Des règles strictes (amende en cas de mauvais tri de déchets, plusieurs rappels d'heure de départ...).

The location was good. The area was quiet, but the 2 floor apartment is not quiet - there is an interleading door between your sitting room and the staircase of the holiday apartments next door and you can clearly hear people talking as they walk up the stairs. The decor is nice and well thought out. The apartment was very clean. I liked that my bed - the upstairs room, had a feather duvet. Note that bathroom en suite has no door, so if you are shy to wee this is not for you. Fabio, the agent was helpful via WhatsApp with parking advice. You can stop your car about a 100m from the apartment - one of you must stay in the car whilst the other gets the suitcases to the apartment - you must not park your car, just stop. You cannot drive to the apartment - this is made clear in the ad, only residents can drive in some parts of the island. There is an overnight parking garage an 11 minute walk from the apartment for 15 Euros for 24 hours or part thereof. If you are only parking for a few hours then choose the hourly rate otherwise the 24 hour options is best - you can come and go within that 24 hours. Not their fault, but the water is brackish so buy your own - it won't make you ill though, it just doesn't taste nice.

The entire experience was very impersonal. No welcome note, no local cake or little treat, no bottle of wine. For 3 people we were left 3 x 500ml bottles of water in the fridge. No local soaps or bodywash - there's a bottle of cheap shampoo in each shower. No local area map, no restaurant suggestions, just a list of the fines you can incur - 80 Euros if you don't put the rubbish out properly. We paid about 1600 Euros for a 5 night booking, 2 weeks prior to checking in. Only on arrival were we informed that you are not allowed to cook fish or meat at the apartment or you will be fined. This was not advertised upfront and should have been. Now as a vegetarian, I don't mind, but don't plan to cook bacon with your eggs for breakfast. If you don't complete their online guest registration prior to check in "we cannot guarantee access". So if you are a group traveling from different places and one person does not have all the passport info in time would you not be allowed in and they keep your 1600 euros? It is Italian law that all guests must submit their passport info and this is where someone meeting you at the apartment would be so much nicer. The stairs to the upper level are metal slats inserted into the wall - no banister/ hand rail and the steps are open - see photo - I got used to it, but really quite scary. I would think that building regulations and rental rules would require a hand rail? The owner seems to live close by. She lets her dog walk in the street in front of the apartment. The dog poos on the path and she doesn't pick it up - be careful if you wheel your cases through the dog poos. So for all the threats of fines, perhaps basic consideration re your dog mess and a safety rail for the stair case should be considered - or could there be a fine?
