Gardens House

This was one of the most uncomfortable hotel check-in experiences we have had. Upon arrival, we were suddenly asked to pay an additional €105 in cash. The explanation kept changing. First, we were told that our reservation was for 2 guests, even though our booking showed 4 guests. When that explanation was challenged, we were then told that our 2-year-old toddler would be charged as an adult.

As a family traveling with a small child after a long journey, we felt we had little choice but to pay in order to access the room and avoid being stranded during check-in. The money was collected in cash, yet no receipt, invoice, or proof of payment was provided. What concerns me most is not only the extra charge itself, but the lack of consistency, transparency, and documentation surrounding it. When explanations change and cash is collected without any receipt, it naturally raises serious questions that every traveler should consider before booking. Future guests should make sure they obtain written confirmation of every charge in advance and insist on receiving official documentation for any additional payments. Based on our experience, I would not stay here again and would not recommend this property to families looking for a straightforward and trustworthy check-in process.

The location was great - close to the train and the ferries. Although in summer season - they are extremely busy and the town is extremely busy.

Arriving at the property wasn't a great experience. The directions for location was't great. I was asked to give an exact time of arrival - which I did. But then had to wait outside the gate for Pietro to arrive - only for a short while. We didn't feel very welcome and the whole arrival experience made us feel a little on edge. Once we were there for a night, we fell more relaxed and Varenna is beautiful and the apartment being close to everything was great. The check out time was 9am - which again wasn't ideal. We are more used to check out being 10am/11am or even 12pm. We could have left our bags with Pietro and his family, but in the end we decided just to leave at 9am.

perfect location, few mins walk from the train station and near ferry dock.very cute place near restaurants.

the place had infestations of ants when we arrived. we even found them in our suitcases. once we told the owner, they did clean the place and put some ant bait which helped the situation a bit.

Appartamento molto accogliente e luminoso con tutto il necessario. Si trova all'ultimo piano con scale, vicino al centro. Bella la vista sul lago dalla camera. Buono il rapporto qualità prezzo.

The house and the host are excellent. I request for early check in, but due to bad public transportation, I arrived even late than the normal check in time. The host had no compliant and waited for us. The host and his wife are so nice to allow us to storage our luggages. The location is convenient for those have to take public transportation and near the station. Appreciate and I recommend this apartment.
