"Il Nido"

La struttura ha una posizione eccezionale, nel centro di Sermoneta. Giulio è un host molto attento, ci ha mandato tutte le informazioni in anticipo e in maniera particolareggiata, consigliando anche ristoranti che si sono rivelati molto buoni La casina è deliziosa, una attenzione gli scalini che collegano le varie stanze.

Appartement chaleureux

La climatisation est à l'étage supérieur et est très bruyante. La douche dans les WC pas pratique. Les escaliers pas confortable

First, let me say the host, Giulio is AMAZING! He answered all my questions (and I had many) like it was no trouble. The apartment is located in a perfect spot, the balcony offering a place to sit and people watch with a glass of wine or listen to the sounds of a small village wafting through the windows. The apartment is a little quirky but quaint. The kitchen has ample room to cook, has all the utensils needed and a large table, so it made dining a breeze. It doesn’t have a couch to sit on so if we got a bit uncomfortable on the kitchen chairs in the evenings, we just went and sat on the bed. The bed is comfy and the bedroom is quite big with shutters on the windows that look out into the street. Now for the quirky bits… the bathroom is quite small and the shower is in there too so if you have a shower its quite a wet spot. We didn’t have an anti slip mat in there so you just need to be careful when going down the stairs into the kitchen. I am 5’7” and no issue with the height of the shower. The entrance to the bedroom is blocked a little by the main stairs. It took me a minute to find the best way to get in there, but once I figured it out it was easy to navigate even with a bad knee. Did these quirky features detract from the property ABSOLUTELY NOT..it added authenticity and gave us a bit of a giggle ☺️There are a couple of very small minimarts and a veggie shop within a couple of minutes walk that have the basics, so between the three we could get most of what we needed, however I did bring some gluten free things with me, and was pleased that I did. If you are planning to cook, have dietary requirements etc. you may want to plan your meals and maybe go to the supermarket near the Latina train station before coming up to the old town. The castle is a must see and walking around the town at night is special with all the buildings lit up. Would we stay here again…ABSOLUTELY.. it was one of the highlights of our trip.

The only negative was that there wasn’t an iron. Travelling with only backpacks and booking accommodation based on the facilities we actually need, it is important to have what is advertised.

The bedroom

The bathroom/shower "issue" was not a good thing. (The bathroom is upstairs and is way too small and the shower is in the same room with no enclosure). Very noisey location on main street.

Our host, Guilio, was fantastic. His communication was first-rate, and he was extremely helpful - we were walking, and he helped us get a taxi when we were stuck in a thunderstorm at the bottom of the hill! The whole place is small but very well-equipped. The bed is comfortable. The shower/toilet area is small but ingenious in its arrangement (you could have a shower whilst sitting on the toilet, but it's inadvisable!). The location is in the heart of Sermoneta, which is a big plus for anyone walking the Via Francigena del Sud.

As the property is located on the side of the street, noise may be a problem, so earplugs are useful. People of limited mobility may find the steps down into the bedroom challenging.

Lack of a kettle

The location of "Il Nido" is excellent for anyone visiting Sermoneta. It is close to the main square and we found it restful.

Nice little hotel right in the heart of town. Comfortable bed in a bedroom with plenty of space for luggage etc. Good kitchen. Bathroom a little quirky but does the job. Just steps from restaurants, cafes, wine bars, gelato, bakery, and plenty of other amenities.
