箱寝荘 - Hakoneso

Lovely modern home that still has a great Japanese feel to it. Great location only a 10 min walk from the main strip of town (a little uphill though so get a taxi when arriving with luggage). We stayed as 3 adults which was perfect, but keep in mind there’s only one shower & the space isn’t too big, so it would be difficult with more than 5 people really.

Great location and lovely to have room to spread out. The air con was nice and cool in the humid summer heat. A quiet little neighbourhood. Excellent communication with the host, thank you. Just to note, if you have bags you may wish to get a taxi from the train station, as there is a steep uphill part of the walk there. We found the walk fine without bags and very picturesque as you walk across two bridges over the rivers.

A beautiful house in a nice Japanese style, very spacious and pleasant. It is a very well equipped and modern house. the instructions given were clear and precise.The area is incredibly beautiful and it was a great stay. We recommend Hakoneso house and Hakonen very much.

The location was hard to find. We don’t speak Japanese and had trouble calling a taxi on the day of departure. The host wasn’t able to help which was disappointing considering the price that we paid. We ended up going to the hotel next door, Maille Coeur to seek help. The 10am check out made the morning rushed. 11am would have been better.

great place to stay very comfortable and clean. the bedrooms are great. heating is great. only problem is the hot water system for the shower is a bit confusing for foreigners but once you figure it out it’s fine. overall great place to stay would highly recommend.
