Nice and quiet area. Great place in mountain area for escaping the city and have relaxing time with the family.

For the kids, internet signal can be improved by a booster upstairs. The penalty of 2500 Yen for every 15 minutes late checkout does not feel very welcoming.

Heaps of space. A short pleasant walk to the train station. Very comfortable and homely. Great facilities to cook at home. Perfect for families, especially those with kids a bit older as there’s rooms down stairs for kids and an upstairs master bedroom for a couple :)

The space is well designed with some thoughtful elements to efficiently accommodate large groups without being too cramped. Would recommend for groups of 6-10 healthy individuals who don't mind walking, would like to save money, and are willing to concede all hospitality. - Mostly clean and organized (toilet leaked water underneath, showerhead broken, Smoke alarm randomly went off at 3AM) - Tasteful fully-equipped kitchen - Efficient Layout (beds efficiently placed without being too cramped, shared space open enough to accommodate large group) - Some thoughtful convenience elements (Bluetooth speaker in each room, charging ports at each bed) - Efficient Communication I suspect many other positive reviews may be because Host requires reviews before sharing discount coupons for local Onsens.

Host has zero sense of generosity or hospitality. Concessions are all made by the guest. Host does the bare minimum. E.g. exactly enough small towels (no large ones) to match number of guests in the 1st-floor bathroom to locate and carry up yourself. No welcome note or even a single packet of instant coffee? Fine. But the moment you book, you are sent a website of rules documenting all the things you need to do and how pretty much any violation would have an undisclosed fee. It's not like any of these rules did not make sense, some are pretty standard for such rentals and none of them were individually unreasonable. Perhaps the host had been burned by one too many inconsiderate guests. However, being carpet bombed with a list of penalties while also being told I need to immediately register every guests passport and details on some government website upon booking does not set the tone for a relaxing getaway. We spent the whole trip with the lingering tension of inadvertently incurring one penalty or another. - Accessibility is abysmal. On a very steep incline my elderly parents couldn't climb. Upon finding out (Host sent YouTube clip, TY), politely explained my parents may have difficulty accessing the location and asked if we could cancel even at a steep penalty. Host refused. So rented a car but even with a car, accessibility was low. Location is closest to Hakone-Yumoto Station where parking was 540 yen for 30 minutes. Extremely windy mountain passes to reach the lake or Gora. - Too Many Rules/Penalties: Too Much Trash - Fee, Trash not sorted - Fee, Too loud - Fee, Park in front - Fee, Park incorrectly - Fee, Extra Guest (with a "We're Watching" note) - Fee, Any Damages - Fee, Checkout a minute late - Fee per 15 minutes, Food cost increased on meal you already paid for - Fee. They forget your meal - no Fee. Don't recommend for 4 or less. Felt like a budget experience, but not budget-priced.

Beautiful place and facilities. Super friendly host. The washer wasn't working on our first day so she collected our clothes and made sure they were washed and dried.

The wifi connection was slow and kept disconnecting.

We enjoyed staying here very much! It was clean and spacious and had everything we needed. Also the host quickly replied and answered a question for us.

The location was very central for getting to all the top places to visit in Hakone. We had a car. The instructions regarding finding the house, where to park and helpful videos to guide us were great. There were two supermarkets just down the road where you could get most things we needed for breakfast and snacks. There was adequate seating on the couches and at the table for our group and the kitchen was well equipped. The washing machine was out of order but when we mentioned this a lady came around, collected our dirty washing and left it back washed and dried the following day for which we were really grateful.

We asked for extra pillows as we found all the pillows in Japan very flat and hard but we were told that wasn't possible. The beds were not very comfortable but that seemed to be the case everywhere we stayed in Japan.
