It was so lovely to experience staying in this traditional Japanese townhouse. The host was amazing too, they met us on arrival and went through everything about the property in thorough detail, she also recommended stuff to do and some local food places to try during our stay. They also accepted our baggage the day before our arrival, and was able to make arrangements for it to be sent to Tokyo. The house was very clean, and the traditional bath was lovely at the end of very busy day. The location was perfect, very quite and although away from the main road everything was only a short walk away.

Unfortunately for me the futon bed was not very comfortable, was a bit hard for my preference. My husband didn't find it as uncomfortable though.

Angefangen vom Eingangsbereich bis hin zum Empfang durch unsere nette Gastgeberin, die traditionelle Einrichtung des Hauses inklusive Plattenspieler und Außenbadewanne, die für ein heimeliges Gefühl sorgten, war alles perfekt, um sich für ein paar Tage Aufenthalt in Kyoto wirklich schon beinahe heimisch zu fühlen. Auch bekamen wir einige gute Empfehlungen, was gute Restaurants und Speisen anging. Immer wieder gerne!

Traditional Japanese house with retro style furniture, old gramophone, kitchenware … Awesome! Very quiet neighbourhood, although it is only 15 minutes away from many sights (Gion, the river, Pontocho). Also has parking nearby. The appartment has everything you need.

The door is quite small and narrow, so it takes some time to get in or out (not to mention bulky luggage).

The owners and staff were so lovely which added to the experience. Accommodation was perfect for the 4 of us in an excellent location. The owners have maintained its old world charm.

Nothing. It was perfect.

It provided an opportunity to experience the life of 120 years ago. Everything was authentic in the house.

Mosquitoes and heat.

Loved the atmosphere of the entire place, and especially our host was incredibly kind.

Our apartment was excellent- private, clean and filled with 20th century Japanese paraphernalia including a working record players library of vinyl. The staff are AMAZING - they spent more than half an hour with us introducing us to be property, the room and to Kyoto generally.

The place is pretty much perfect. We just regret we could not spend longer!
