Casa Dona Olga River View

The property was quite exceptional. The views from the terraces could not be beat. The place was a wonderful mix of the property’s old world charm and modern amenities. The apartment is nestled in the side of the hill, there are lots of stairs inside and outside. Stairs are part of the Porto experience and we embraced it. Just be warned if you have any mobility issues, this might not be the place for you.

The property is hard to find. Because of construction and getting rerouted we decided to just park and walk. We were close but our map app took us down many flights of stairs and then back up again with all our luggage. If we were told it was just behind the Bishop’s Palace I think we would have had an easier time. Once we found the place, we had no more issues.

The location is fabulous. There are a lot of steps, but we did not mind the exercise. It is a very unique property. There is a cute little wine bar across the way that we loved. The house has a couple of balconies and we had breakfast on the patio and hung out on the patio chairs some afternoons. The views from the house are spectacular. Manuel was a great host. He had fruits and a bottle of wine ready for us. He also helped us at arrival and departure. He went out of his way to make us feel at home.

Only that flies came into the house, but we used the fans and put a formula to attract and kill them.

Wow! What a gorgeous place. Loved the apartment and its views. Had everything you needed and quality of linen was top notch. Very comfy beds and good pillows. I think it is suited to a couple rather than a group as the 2nd bedroom is in a loft with a ladder for access. There is a wine bar next door but it is closed around 10pm. The location was great, close to restaurants and old town. Amazing coffee place around the corner, best coffee in Porto and that is saying something.

Everything. It is a truly special place that feels like it is sharing a part of the history of Porto with you. The outdoor spaces are fantastic and Antonio is such a lovely host. He really has thought of all the small details that made us feel at home, and the inside is so well appointed. I can’t imagine staying anywhere else in Porto after our four days here and we hope to be back soon. Definitely get dropped off at the Cathedral as you will be in a pedestrian area. It is a short walk to the property from there.

There is nothing we didn’t like about the property. The property description is direct about the fact that the second bedroom is lofted and would be a challenge for anyone with mobility issues. We had no complaints with an adult couple using that space.
