Portas do Castelo Apartments

I booked this apartment well in advance for a womens' trip. There were six of us. The apartment was perfect for us, as it had three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a large living room with a dining area, a large kitchen, and a terrace. It was decorated in a very pleasing way with Portuguese accents. We really liked its location in the heart of Alfama, close to everything, especially the cathedral, 28 tram and fado clubs.

Be prepared for the fact that you cannot take a taxi directly to the apartment. You have to climb steep stairs.

Good location, well looked after apartment.

We were on the ground floor and there is a lot of noise from the apartment above. The floors are wooden and the sound travels. For us, as a family, we were woken by a few groups coming in late at night. One group walking around very late 1.30-3 am. Not really something that the owners can control but it did disturb our sleep.

Appartement spacieux, bien situé, au calme, propre, 2 salles de bain, linge fourni, plusieurs clés, espace extérieur avec vue sur les toits de Lisbonne et le pont 👌👍

Les lits de la grande chambre jumelle n'étaient pas très confortables (ressorts en métal qui grincent énormément). Tout le reste était super !

The building is in the middle of a steep stair street and not accessible by car. It was not very convenient for my older brother who was not walking very well and it was difficult to carry your luggage.

Very nicely appointed studio room with a sitting area outside. It was clean and the bed comfortable. Good equipment provided. The shower was great, always hot water and again clean. I did find it quite expensive considering the location but I was keen to have a little outside space.

I texted one of the numbers given to check in only to find that person was out of office…so I texted the next number and got same response so I gave up. Luckily 10 minutes later another member of the team texted back with details on how to get into the apartment. The studio is literally half way up the hill so the steps could be taxing if you had luggage. The steps do encourage baskers but these weren’t a problem
