Golden Star AV by An Island Apart

The apartment was amazing. They have everything what you need. And the host was the most nice person ever.

There was nothing that you can don’t like.

It’s very beautiful and practical in placement

The accommodation was perfect. Mary is very kind and recommended us restaurants in the area. She even allowed us to postpone the check-out to a later time. It is about a 40-minute walk to the center on the sidewalk. Right next to the apartment is the Forum Madeira shopping center, where you can find everything. I really recommend this apartment.

Nothing

The apartment was just perfect. We were staying for 2 weeks. Apartment was very clean, there is elevator so it is easy with suitcase. We received a small welcome and goodbye gifts from the host which was additional plus. Location is perfect - to the center of Funchal you need to walk 40 min but you can also take city bus for 1,5 euro just from the bus stop close to the apartment. Also the airport bus has their stop just next to the apartment, so you don't need to take expensive taxi. There is a shopping mall 100m from apartment, plenty of shops and restaurants. You can also go to the beach where there is a few beach bars. Balcony has really nice view for the street but also an ocean and mountiatins. There is actually 3 balconies in the apartment, so it was nice suprise. Highly recommended.

It can get a bit loud as the apartment is next to busy street. Especially in bedroom, you can hear cars in the nigth. If you have problems with sleep, I recommend to get ear plugs or something like that.

Close to a bus stop and a biiig grocery shop, great and friendly host, well equipped. Good price-quality ratio. Definetely gonna try to book the same appartment the next time we'll visit Madeira.

There's no power socket in the bathroom - but it is a minor flaw.

The apartment is located in a great area in Funchal, very close to the ocean, to bus stations, to a mall. The area is safe, pretty quiet, beautiful, there are a lot of palm trees and it is connected to the city center by a promenade by the sea. To sum it up, 10 is not enough for the location of this apartment and the private parking is another reason for which this accomodation was great. The apartment looks exactly like in the photos, so you get what you expect, it is clean, bright and cozy. Mary, the host, was wonderful and very friendly and she made us feel very welcome, for which we thank her and we send warm greetings to her!

Although these were minor downsides, here are some things that I think could be improved in the future: Regarding the bathroom, altough it is modern and very clean: - it really needs a power outlet near the mirror, or at least an extension cord (I had to style my hair in my phone mirror, since I had no power outlet near the mirror :))) ) - there was no shower gel - a bigger, stronger towel hanger would be great A bigger issue about the bathroom was unfortunately the fact that the warm water was limited, which was not a problem when taking a shower, but when we had to wash our hair (long hair), we ran out of warm water after cca 8-10 minutes. Regarding the bedroom: the bed was a little bit hard, but this depends on personal taste; what bothered me was the fact that the matress was coated in a plastic material which felt weird to me, maybe that could be changed in the future

Nice apartment, good location, parking space in the building which is very useful. Kind, helpful host. Surprise was waiting for us.

The air conditioning requires service. It didn't heat and had a bad smell.
