"Deposit scam & arrogant and unprofessional host"

Nice and spacious apartment. Close to the metro and train station. Caffe bars and stores available in the neighborhood.

The host. Worst host we have ever encountered within Booking and outside. First, during our stay, there were not enough towels provided; less than 2 per person. After we have asked for some more, he said that he can provide them, but for extra cost. There was not enough toilet paper either, and once we have asked if there is some more in the apartment, he arrogantly responded that he provided those 2-3 rolls out of courtesy and that we should go down to Aldi and buy some more. And then he was asking us to get out from the apartment day earlier than booked. Once we said until when we have booked, he admitted he was wrong. Very unprofessional overall. Secondly, the fight for deposit after we left. He refused to give us the deposit back, for no valid reason. Although it is written that the deposit will be returned within 1-8 days, he didn't contact us until we contacted him after 8 days, he asked for IBAN, but then suddenly changed his mind and said that he is refusing to give us the deposit back for ridiculous reasons. Apparently, we were too loud first night once we came back, we left the window open (on the 6th floor), and didn't throw the garbage out to the container in the basement. We have complained to Booking after that. They agreed with us that the reasons for not returning the deposit are unjustified, and Booking refunded to us the full deposit of 300 €. Later, I could see in the reviews similar experiences from other guests, with similar outcome. He will probably try to justify his actions in the reply to this bad review, probably on an arrogant way, like he was doing for similar reviews. But there is no justification for this behaviour. Even Booking agreed, based on all evidences provided by him, that there are no reasons to hold the deposit back. So, if you want to save your nerves and couple of hours of your life I lost in discussions with him and complaint process to Booking, I am highly recommending to avoid this apartment.

Lovely view, everything in the kitchen, comfy beds.

Elevator wasn’t working at the time we stayed, but owner apologised and let us off some money.

It is a nice flat that is close to public transport and can fit comfortably a family of 8

The property manager allowed us to check in earlier, which was nice. The flat overall is not bad, but after spending some days you can clearly see that it is really in need for some proper maintenance: some door knobs were loose and failing all the time, the shower were also loose and kept failing when someone was taking a bath. The toaster was not working. The washing machine door was broken (it trapped our clothes there for 2 days, and after the manager had to force it to open it). But the worst part was the heating, since the central heating was not working, we had to rely on 2 ACs from the rooms to heat the entire apartment, which was far from ideal. So we were really cold most of the time. There was also insufficient towels and toilet paper . Lastly, during check out (which I must admit we were 1 hour past our check time time - since we had 2 small children with us and a lot of luggage) when the property manager stormed into the flat and was really rude, yelling that I would have to pay the late check out fee. After we left they didn’t returned the deposit back in the agreed time nor replied to my messages. So I had to contact booking’s customer service in order for him to reply (btw the booking employee also mentioned that he was rude to her). After that the manager started to send pictures from the house that did not represent our stay (for example he sent a picture of cigarettes on the balcony’s floor, but nobody actually smokes). After carefully reading other reviews here you can clearly see that this is a pattern. We have stayed in many other properties in Portugal and elsewhere and this was by far the worst experience. They are very financially driven and don’t care much else for the rest. Booking should really re-think about keeping this property advertised

Good location, clean, nice view and balcony. Actually, everything is like on the photos, and it’s cool

It was pretty cold and some air conditioners didn’t work. So we didn’t have a chance to make this apartment warmer…
