"Good location for light travel/solo trip but not when you have many luggage and children"

5.0

Location is close to airport and Balboa Park. Parking is available for a fee. Doors use codes so less hastle in getting your keys lost or misplaced.

We booked for a room on the first level but the room we got was the one upstairs where we have to take 4 set of stairs. Travelling with toddler and many luggage is not recommended.

"Great affordable location w free on-street parking"

6.0

Location was great. It was affordable and clean. Walkable to Balboa Park, little Italy, and the water front as well. We liked the full length mirror. The neighborhood felt safe to walk in at night, after we realized that all the houses have security gates at the entrance, and one of the other residents told us how much safer he felt in San Diego than in Los Angeles. It had good soundproofing for the planes that fly over Balboa Park. There was indeed free on-street parking, which we were able to find, but we didn’t need our car much because of the great location for walking to the places we wanted to go.

The full size bed mattress wasn’t great, not big enough for us, so I didn’t sleep well for the two nights we were there. There’s room for a queen bed in the apartment, which would make it nicer. The kitchen was very minimally stocked, if you want to do any real cooking, it would be challenging. It would’ve been nice to have some sort of comfortable chair to sit in in the apartment. And bedside tables on both sides of the bed.

"Far from luxurious, basic and dysfunctional."

2.0

Location is central and close to the downtown and Balboa park. However the neighbourhood is shady, there are homeless people all the time right outside.

The room was far from luxurious - very basic with dated furniture. Walls are super thin and you can clearly hear the noise from other rooms plus the footsteps from the rooms above. Airport is nearby and there is constant noise from planes flying every few minutes. Listing mentions the laundry in the room facilities section, but the laundry is not in the room and not free. Entering the room is super inconvenient each time with 3 different doors to be unlocked by three codes. Staff is absent and unresponsive. Wifi was super slow and the Roku TV was not working. Kitchen lacks common things such as paper towel (shown in the picture but not provided), spice rack present but many spice containers empty and need refill. Bathroom is small and basic.

"I enjoyed my stay, a lovely little apartment near Balboa park."

9.0

The kitchen had all the utensils we needed and the apartment was very clean and tidy. I liked the location.

The WiFi kept going down so the TV couldn’t connect about 40% of the time. It was very loud during the evenings with people walking down the stairs by the front door.

"No “luxurious studio” to be found here"

3.0

The location here is perfect if you want to access Balboa Park easily, and you can also reach downtown på foot in around 15 mins. It’s also close to the airport. There’s a modern kitchen in the apartment and the AC worked well. I received access codes before arriving, and the manager was friendly when I arrived and my room wasn’t ready. He looked after my luggage and was attentive. The price is good compared to many other places in San Diego. I won’t call this place “value for money”, but perhaps just say that you get what you pay for, minus the luxury (didn’t expect that in the first place though).

I don’t believe there’s anything luxurious about the apartment. It’s worn out and furniture has seen better days. The bed is only a double / full size, so if you’re two adults you’ll be sleeping close. The WiFi was slow and Roku on the TV didn’t work. The walls are paper thin, so you can hear everything going on both in the upstairs apartments - literally every foot step, every time the garbage disposal runs, or even when people talk. You can also hear every time someone walks on the stairs or the beeps from when people enter the access code to the tower. It’s impossible to hear if they’re dialing the code for the tower or for your apartment, so had a scare here a few times. Also, the apartment is located right beneath the airstream of planes flying into SAN. With the walls being so thin, you will hear the sound of airplanes about every 5 minutes all day. To be fair, they did place earplugs in the hotel room. However, from experience I’ve learned that it’s always a 🚩 when I see them, and this time confirmed that. I didn’t sleep well during my stay here. There’s homeless people right outside on the street, but walk a few blocks north or west and you’ll be fine.
